Go To

The sixty-third episode of Tiny Toon Adventures.

The episode begins with what looks like Plucky in the desert, desperate for water. He finds a canteen and drinks from it, but the water is too hot, and he begs for ice. Buster is embarrassed by Plucky acting up, and reveals that they, along with Babs and Hamton, are really on the beach. Plucky tells Buster that everything on the beach is expensive, revealing many food and drink stands near him. Babs then asks the boys whose idea it was to go to the beach without money, and Buster tells her none of them expected the beach to be so expensive, and all four of them are out of money. Hamton tells Plucky that the best things in life are free, but Plucky disagrees, telling Hamton, "This is the 90's, Hamton, take out a loan and buy a clue!". Plucky isn't kidding, as besides refreshments, vendors are even charging people for sand and waves. Hamton is amazed that nothing on the beach is free, and a vendor stops by to tell him, Buster, Babs, and Plucky that their beach blanket rental time is up. He takes the blanket away, and Plucky tells Buster, Babs, and Hamton that he needs liquid refreshment. Plucky is then splashed by a wave, and then decides he would rather for a simple bottle of soda. A bottle is washed up by the wave, and it hits Plucky on the head. Hamton, who picks up the bottle, is impressed by Plucky's trick, and asks Plucky if he can order a fast food meal for him. Plucky takes the bottle from Hamton and tries to drink from it, when Babs takes it from him, noticing a map inside. She unfolds the map, which reads, "On booty island, where X marks the spot, you'll find me loot, and boy, it's a lot!". Both Hamton and Buster show interest in finding the treasure, but Plucky shows even more interest, as he takes the map back and gloats about how rich he's going to become. Buster, Babs, and Hamton chase after him and tell him that they're going to find the treasure together and split everything equally. Plucky refuses, telling them that he found the bottle, and has the lump on his head to prove it. Babs then takes the map back, from him, telling him that she found it. Buster and Hamton tell Plucky that they are indeed going to split the treasure equally. Babs agrees with them, but Plucky doesn't. The two fight over the map, ripping it in half. Plucky tells Babs to give him back the other half of his map, but she tells him that her half belongs to her. Buster walks up to Babs and tells Plucky that he can't find the treasure with half a map, and Hamton tells him that he also needs a boat and a crew to find the treasure, in the form of them. Babs tells him they're going on an adventure, and Hamton reminds him that they'll split the treasure equally. Buster asks Plucky if he's with them, and Plucky assures them that he is, while hiding his fingers behind his back. With that, the four friends set off.

Later that day, Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton drive their tugboat, the S.S. Tiny Tub, to Booty Island. Buster steers the ship and sings, but Plucky is seasick. Babs swings in, dressed like a pirate, and tells Buster that the salty air makes her think of tangy pretzels, and the clouds make her think of gobs of whipped cream, and so far, their trip has been a piece of cake. All this talk of food makes Plucky even more seasick. Hamton walks in, carrying the map, which has now been taped back together, and tells Buster and Babs that they should turn right at the Sandwich Islands, pass the Mustard Islands, and stop at the Delicatessen Islands. Plucky asks him what for, and Hamton tells him, "To pick up a side of potato salad!". Upon hearing this, Plucky throws up into the sea, causing sea creatures to flee onto the boat. Babs is in the crow's nest, looking around, as a storm approaches. A ghostly pirate ship appears, and Buster tries to steer around it. On the ship, the ghost of the Pirate Captain warns Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton to turn away from Booty Island, lest the Green-Eyed Monster get them. Hamton is afraid of the thought of a green-eyed monster, but Babs tells him she doesn't believe in them, and so does Buster.

The four friends soon reach Booty Island, and although Buster and Babs are excited about the treasure hunt, Plucky isn't anymore. Buster asks Plucky where his sense of adventure is, and Plucky tells him, "I lost it over the side about an hour ago.". The S.S. Tiny Tub reaches land, and Buster looks around. Buster says, "I wonder if there are any naive-ites", and Babs jumps down as she tells Buster that that was a typo in the script, and he's supposed to say, "I wonder if there are any natives.". He does so as she changes into her hawaiian attire. Babs then sings a Hawaiian song as she gives Buster and hamton leis, and Buster and Hamton dance along. Plucky is not amused, and decides to look for the treasure himself. As he snatches the map from Babs, he soon starts to sing and dance as well. He soon dances his way into a well, and gets pinched in the butt by a crab. He swats it away, then looks at the map. He sets off to find the treasure, but unknown to him, a mysterious pair of green eyes watches from behind the bush.In the second act, Babs continues her Hawaiian song and dance, until she sees the mysterious pair of green eyes that Plucky saw earlier. She runs away from it, and Buster asks Hamton where Babs went. Hamton suggests asking the thing with the green eyes, and upon hearing this, he and Buster run away from it.

Meanwhile, Plucky continues to look for the treasure by himself, excited about how rich he's about to become. He follows the instructions on the map to move forward five paces to find the X, and soon comes to an X. He digs at it, but doesn't find the treasure. He then notices another X next to the hole and thinks he just miscalculated. He digs at that X, but doesn't find the treasure in it, either. He then notices another X and digs at it, but once again, doesn't find any treasure. Soon, he digs at every X he sees, but still doesn't find the treasure.

Many X's later, Plucky is exhausted, and decides to give up. As he climbs up the hole he dug, Buster, Babs, and Hamton run past him, knocking him back down the hole, screaming, "Green-Eyed Monster!". Plucky looks behind him, and sees the mysterious pair of green eyes. He, along with Buster, Babs, and Hamton, run into a tree to hide. They watch from a distance, and see that the pair of green eyes belongs to the X-Bird, Booty Island's only inhabitant, who can only say "X". Since the X-Bird has X-shaped claws, they made X-shaped prints which led Plucky to dig in all the wrong places. Plucky decides to read the map again, but Babs tosses a coconut at him and takes the map back. Hamton scolds Plucky for trying to find the treasure by himself, even after they all promised to share it. Buster asks him what he has to say about it, and Plucky says, "X!". Hamton is confused, but Plucky points out the tree they were just in. Since it is standing next to another tree, the two trees form an X, where the treasure is buried. Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton all chant, "X!", offending the X-Bird, who walks away angrily.

The four friends dig until they find the treasure chest. Plucky is about to open the chest himself, when Babs stops him and tells him that they all have to be mature and sensible about sharing the treasure. The four friends agree, but soon start fighting over who gets to open the chest. When they get it open, they are amazed to see the treasure inside. Buster unfolds a scroll that says, "Take no more than ye may need, or the Green-Eyed Monster upon ye shall feed.". He, Babs, and Hamton all gulp nervously upon hearing this, but Plucky takes the scroll from him and most of the treasure for himself, leaving Buster, Babs, and Hamton to share one doubloon. Buster, Babs, and Hamton, realizing that Plucky tricked them, trap him in the treasure chest. Plucky decides that he will share the treasure after all.Buster splits the treasure evenly among himself, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton, which isn't easy when Plucky disguises himself as Abraham Lincoln and a nerd. Buster is soon wise to Plucky's plan, and disguises himself as a taxman to take the extra money back.

That night, the four friends all have their equal shares of treasure, and decide to sleep on Booty Island for the night. While Buster, Babs, and Hamton sleep near each other, Plucky sleeps around barbed wire, warning, signs and a moat of sharks to keep his share of the treasure safe. The four friends dream about how they plan to spend their shares of the treasure. Babs dreams about using her share of the treasure to bribe the Hollywood Chamber of Calmers into having her name on all the stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hamton dreams about showing Calamity the massive expansion to his house, Plucky dreams about having a quarter of the Earth be his face (since Mount Rushmore has a "No Lame Ducks" policy), and Buster dreams about eating from a mountain of carrots. The ghost of the Pirate Captain appears in Buster's dream and tells him to beware of the Green-Eyed Monster. Buster merely blows the ghost of the Pirate Captain away, when a large, sinister green-eyed version of Buster emerges from underneath the carrot mountain and tries to eat him, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton. The next morning, when the four friends awaken, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton notice that their shares of the treasure are missing. Since Buster still has his share of the treasure, they all accuse him of stealing their shares.

In the third act, Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton all fight over Buster's share of the treasure, unaware that the X-Bird is watching them. The fight goes on and on until the X-Bird takes most of Buster's share. Buster, Babs, and Hamton stop fighting when they notice the treasure is gone, but Plucky continues fighting himself, until he notices a necklace that the X-Bird left behind. The four friends fight over the necklace, until the X-Bird takes that too. Buster sees the X-Bird with the necklace and tells Babs, Plucky, and Hamton to follow it.

The four friends chase the X-Bird to its nest and find out it used the treasure to build it. This soon gets them to realize that they were all fighting and accusing each other of stealing the treasure for nothing. Unfortunately, Buster finds out that the X-Bird built its nest above a volcano about to erupt. The four friends leave Booty Island, taking the treasure and the X-Bird with them just in time as lava flows from the volcano.

As soon as the four friends get back on the S.S. Tiny Tub and sail away, the S.S. Tiny Tub begins to sink. Buster, Babs, and Hamton try to bail the water out, but Buster realizes they're carrying too much weight, and need to throw something overboard. Plucky is about to throw the X-Bird overboard, but Babs stops him from doing so. Plucky then asks if they should throw the treasure overboard, but soon regrets it. Buster, Babs, and Hamton toss the treasure overboard, and the S.S. Tiny Tub begins to resurface. Plucky grieves over the loss of the treasure.

That night, Plucky is upset that his, Buster, Babs, and Hamton's treasure hunt was a huge bust, since they lost the treasure and didn't see the green-eyed monster. Buster tells Plucky that they saw four green-eyed monsters. Plucky asks him where they are, intent on selling them for profit. Babs tells Plucky that Buster was speaking metaphorically, as they were the green-eyed monsters when they got too jealous and greedy. The four friends promise never to be that way again, but their promise is short-lived when what looks like rubies fall out of Plucky's tank top. The four friends soon fight over them, when the X-Bird shouts, "X!" and sits atop them. Hamton realizes that the X-Bird is really saying "Eggs", and Babs realizes that the rubies are really the X-Bird's eggs, and the X-Bird is about to become a mother. The eggs hatch into baby X-Birds, and Buster says, "I guess Eggs marks the spot after all!". The X-Bird Babies think Plucky is their mother, and Babs asks Plucky if it's wonderful that the X-Bird is a mother. Unfortunately, Plucky is left to take care of the X-Bird babies, and snarkily remarks, "I'm Egg-Static!" as the screen irises out on him, ending the episode.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Accordion Man: Happens to Babs when she, Buster, Plucky, and Hamton fight over Buster's share of the treasure.
  • And a Diet Coke: Hamton provides this line when Plucky finds the bottle that washed up in a wave;
Hamton: Gee, Plucky, nice trick! Order me a hamburger, onion rings, and a double shake....
(Buster and Babs give mean looks at Hamton)
    Hamton: ...and a diet cola.
  • Animated Actors: At one point in the episode, Buster asks Babs if there are any "naive-ities", but Babs tells him that it's a typo in the script.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • The episode begins with what looks like Plucky in the desert, desparate for water. However, Buster points out that they, along with Babs and Hamton, are actually on the beach, and Plucky is acting up.
    • Towards the end of the episode, Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton escape from Booty Island with the treasure and the X-Bird. Buster, Babs, and Hamton ride atop the X-Bird as Buster says, "Hey, this is the only way to travel!", making it appear as if the X-Bird is running as they ride her. The camera then pans to reveal that Plucky is still carrying the X-Bird, and he says, "That's easy for you to say!".
  • Chekhov's Volcano: Used near the end of the episode, as the location of the X-Bird's nest. Naturally, it erupts.
  • Coconut Meets Cranium: Babs throws a coconut at Plucky when Plucky reveals that he took the map from her to find the treasure for himself.
  • Costumes Change Your Size: Bizarrely, Babs has a visible bust while wearing her swimsuit, despite not having such otherwise outside of disguises/impersonations—not even in her hula outfit, which essentially has a bare chest.
  • Credits Gag: The Show is Over - Now Go Outside and Play
  • Green-Eyed Monster: This episode had this as its Aesop, but Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton don't realize that the warning about a Green-Eyed Monster isn't talking about a literal monster until the very end.
  • Emergency Cargo Dump: Towards the end of this episode, Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton escape from Booty Island with the treasure and the X-Bird. The combined weight of those items causes their boat to start sinking, and Buster declares that they need to throw something overboard. Plucky is about to throw the X-Bird off the boat, but the others toss out the treasure instead, despite Plucky's protest.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Babs doesn't wear her yellow shirt while dressed in her hula attire.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Towards the end of the episode, Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton promise never to be greedy again, but when what looks like rubies fall out of Plucky's tank top, they all start fighting over them again.
  • Kicking My Own Butt: When Buster, Babs, and Hamton stop fighting each other after the X-Bird takes Buster's share of the treasure, Plucky continues beating himself up.
Buster: Hey, the treasure! It's gone!
    Hamton: That's impossible!
Buster: (pointing at Plucky) No, that's impossible!
(Cut to Plucky beating himself up.)
  • Lying Finger Cross: Plucky does this when he promises Buster, Babs, and Hamton that he will split the treasure equally with them.
  • Pokémon Speak: Seemingly, all the X-Bird can say is "X", but at the end, she is actually revealed to be saying "Eggs".
  • Rushmore Refacement: An interesting variation occurs in Plucky's dream; because Mt. Rushmore has a "No Lame Ducks" policy, Plucky decides to make a quarter of the Earth his face.
  • Shout-Out: As they sail to Booty Island, the Toons pass by other stranded sailors, including Gilligan and the Skipper and Ned Land.
  • Tear-Apart Tug-of-War: Plucky finds a note in a bottle. When Babs takes the note from the bottle, she finds a map leading to the treasure of Booty Island inside. While Buster, Babs, and Hamton agree to split the treasure equally once they find it, Plucky wants to keep all the treasure for himself. He and Babs have a tug-of-war over the map, which results in it ripping in half. When the toons head out to Booty Island later in the episode, Hamton tapes the map back together.
  • Think of the Censors!: During the fight against Buster's share of the treasure in the third act, Babs is about to hit Plucky in the head with a club, when she realizes that more impressionable viewers may be watching. She then drags Plucky offscreen, whacks him, and tosses her broken club aside.
  • Treasure Hunt Episode: Buster, Babs, Plucky, and Hamton travel to Booty Island, where they find pirate treasure, and later fight over it when The X-Bird steals it.
  • Vine Swing: At one point during the fight over Buster's share of the treasure, Babs does this, even dressed in a Tarzan outfit.
  • "X" Marks the Spot: Plucky finds an X on the ground and starts digging for treasure, but finds none. He then finds another X, and then another, which are really the X-Bird's tracks. Later, the gang finds two trees forming an X, and find the treasure buried there.
  • Your Tomcat Is Pregnant: Near the end of the episode, Plucky sneaks what looks like rubies aboard the S.S. Tiny Tub. However, they are really the X-Bird's eggs, and the four friends soon realize that the X-Bird is about to become a mother.
