Otomi examines Fury and the others and says they are still alive, but Shinra's roots are draining their magic energy. She doesn't know how to change them back. Infuriated, Sekai freezes time to strip and grope Otomi, Esther, and Lucille while ranting about Fury being here when she was supposed to be in his past self's party, since he could not beat the cockatrice without Gankichi. He then thinks Fury taught him to use the golem, then returned to the village. He puts their clothes back and unfreezes time, then Lucille points out the energy is being channeled into Shinra, then into the floating city. Otomi realizes the city is gaining altitude. Sekai angrily freezes time and walks back to Discius, then unfreezes time and punches the force field, yelling at him to release Fury and the others. Discius calls him an annoying fly because he lacks the power to break his force field, so he is nothing but a waste of his time.
Sekai spends what is implied to be hundreds of days in frozen time trying to break the force field, but cannot. He returns to the others and unfreezes time. Otaki and Okiku find the city floating higher and higher and say they cannot fly up that high. Discius is happy that Sekai is gone and says it is time to eliminate the others. Zaraza, who is still naked, notices the city is rising and wonders what is going on. Suddenly, the city goes above the cloud cover of the Realm of Darkness, exposing everything to the sun. Discius says all except those who worship the Celestial god will be purged as Zaraza realizes this is not good.
Zaraza tells the darklings to flee immediately, but they get surrounded by golems. She tells them to bring it on. Sekai reports that he couldn't break the force field and asks if they should cut the roots attached to Fury and the others. Lucille is worried that if they do that, the girls will die, but Otomi says if they do nothing, they will die anyway and the city is still ascending. Sekai worries that they will suffer from oxygen deprivation, but then remembers when they ascended Mount Godfall and did not experience a drop in oxygen. The place starts shaking, so they go outside and find a bird-shaped airship that dwarfs the floating city hovering above them. Discius gloats that the airship is from the Celestial race and they have come to bless him for being a true believer. He is proven wrong when the airship fires a beam that apparently vaporizes him and punches a hole through the city where he was standing.
As two silhouetted figures are seen standing on the airship, it fires more beams at the city, punching more holes in it. Zaraza and the darklings were still fighting the golems when a beam hits a darkling and destroys it. She screams at the others to run. The other elves meet Sekai and the others and Sekai tells them they have to escape, but Aksho says they have no way to reach the ground. Sekai considers committing suicide to reset the timeline, saying a world without Fury is not worth it. Lucille offers to pray for him, then she starts emitting holy light like Alicia and Sayuki did. The light ejects the darklings from the city, but a flying darkling catches Zaraza. Otomi and the others ask what is happening to Lucille and Sekai briefly explains it. The airship is still blasting the city. Sekai considers everything that has happened and says he has an idea about how to fix this.
