Recap / Time Stop Brave Ch 38 Council and Stop

Go To

Sekai tells Fury he will release her if she promises to listen to him. Her sister urges her to do it, and when she nods, the next thing she knows is that her bonds and gag are gone. She tells him to get out because this land is only for worshipers of Entoura. The elves have been discussing letting humans in for the sake of trade and cross-cultural exchange, but they haven't agreed to that yet. Sekai recalls how his Fury mentioned that letting in outsiders was how the village was destroyed, making Fury suspicious. He says he is not an invader, he worships Entoura himself, and she was the one who initiated him. As proof, he presents his Keystone. Shocked, Fury examines it, then asks her sister, Lucille, to show them her Keystone. They are completely identical, down to the scratches. She now believes he is from the future, but demands to know how he has Lucille's Keystone. He says she gave it to him. She examines him with magic and finds traces of her own mana in him, meaning he was telling to truth about her initiating him. Based on everything he said, Fury comes to the horrified conclusion that Lucille is going to die, but Sekai says he wants to avoid that tragedy.

The two take Sekai to their house and Lucille serves them a vegetable, nut, and mushroom soup. He comments on how he's never seen Fury eat meat, and he concludes all elves are vegetarians. Finding the soup bland, he asks permission to add flavor to it. Confused, they agree, then one time freeze later, he serves them the soup and they light up with delight when they try it. He holds up a bag of curry powder and says he and Gankichi worked hard to make it. He then asks where the rest of their family is. Fury says their parents passed away and they live with their aunt and uncle. Their uncle is currently in a council meeting that has been going on for three days. The village's chief used to handle everything and has been in charge for over 800 years, but he died in an accident last week, so until they choose a new leader, they are using council meetings to decide things. He is amazed that elves live so long and asks how old they are, but they refuse to answer.

He asks what the meeting is about and Fury says they are deciding whether to let humans in. She asks when the village will be destroyed. He doesn't know, but says the first time he met her was in the year 1662 on the dragon calendar. Shocked, she says that is next year and it may be too late to stop it, but he says they'll change destiny. She makes him admit he came here with no plan, then says this is a matter for the elves to solve and tells him to leave. He makes her admit she has no idea how to convince the council not to let outsiders in.

Suddenly, the elf woman whom Sekai met the first time he arrived here walks in and Lucille calls her "Auntie", shocking him. The aunt says something terrible has happened in the council meeting, then spots Sekai. Lucille introduces him, but the aunt screams that he is a human and must be the culprit. She screams to sound the alarm, so Sekai angrily freezes time. When he unfreezes time, she finds herself naked and tied up with a ball gag in her mouth and her clothes folded in a neat pile. Fury yells at him, but he says he almost died because of her. Fury says that doesn't excuse him to assault her aunt, making him chuckle because while time was frozen, he made the aunt go into some sexy poses and used some wrestling holds on her. He says anyone who has bad intentions for him will suffer Disarmament. He then asks what she meant when she called him the culprit. He tells the aunt he will release her if she promises not to sound the alarm or attack him. She just glares at him, but the next thing she knows, her bonds and gag are gone and her clothes are back. Sekai has vanished, baffling the three of them.

Fury asks what happened at the council meeting. The aunt says she was checking on her husband when she learned that Aksho Law, the council member who is most active in opposing letting outsiders in, was just murdered. She predicts that with his death, the motion to let outsiders in will pass. Sekai, who was hiding inside a barrel, reaches over and lifts the aunt's skirt while speculating that the village chief was also murdered. The aunt says it is unthinkable for an elf to murder another. Since the only non-elves in the village are a guest from the League of Mages and Sekai, Sekai must have done it. She runs out saying she will gather their brethren to hunt him down.

Fury comments that Sekai couldn't have done it because he was with them the whole time. Lucille adds that he is not a bad person. Sekai emerges from the barrel and thanks them for having faith in him. He says his next order of business is to catch the murderer. He says he will inspect the crime scene and vanishes, baffling them. With time frozen, Sekai pushes past crowds to enter the building the council was in. He finds Aksho's corpse with his throat slit. The body hasn't been moved. He notices an elf being restrained and dragged away, so he might be a suspect. He contemplates that due to the elves' racism, he cannot ask them to cooperate. He plans to redo this encounter so that he can go back and stop the murder from happening. He then wonders how he can go back without dying again, since he doesn't want to experience that again. He steps outside and is shocked to see one of the witches he once encountered in Wonsey's Forest, floating in the air on her broomstick.
