The 30 Rock episode "Sandwich Day" contains examples of:

  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Floyd seems to have no idea what girl might have answered Liz's call. While he denies that this is because he's a Casanova, it does imply he dates around enough that he doesn't know who it was.
  • Creepy Basement: The 12th floor Jack is demoted to is this to the plush 52nd floor, with flickering lights, drab decor, and a creepy secretary with an eye-patch.
  • Cut Your Heart Out With A Spoon: How Liz threatens her employees to get her a new sandwich after they stole hers.
"I don't know how...but you're gonna get me another sandwich. Or I'm gonna cut your face open so bad, you'll have a chin. You'll all have chins!"
  • Defeat Means Friendship: The show staff and the teamsters are initially antagonistic with each other, but once the teamsters lose the drinking contest, they're all singing "Danny Boy."
  • Drinking Contest: The TGS writing staff (and Jenna and Kenneth) have to win one of these to get Liz a new sandwich. Parodied, because at first everyone except Jenna can't drink for various reasons, only for those reasons to suddenly vanish halfway through.
  • Flipping the Table: Liz once did this with the writers' table when her mac 'n' cheese went missing.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Liz is still jealous of the girl she heard on Floyd's phone many months ago and eventually blows admits it to him.
  • Our Presidents Are Different: Apparently, one of the things that could shock Geiss awake is the news that Hillary Rodham Clinton is president.
  • Operation: Jealousy: Liz seeks to make Floyd feel stupid for leaving her by showing how cool and successful she is.
  • Race for Your Love: What Liz does at the end. She has limited success.
  • Satiating Sandwich: The TGS cast and crew get the world's best sandwiches once a year from a secret restaurant in Brooklyn. When Liz’s is stolen by her co-workers, the writing staff are forced to get her a new one from the teamsters that pick them up.
