- Call-Back: Zack relates to Esteban's worry about his mother being alone saying he was reluctant as well to leave his mother. Esteban then reveals Cody sent emails to the hotel informing everyone of how Zack broke down crying back in the pilot.
- Earn Your Happy Ending: Esteban is married, got promoted to night manager, and is able to keep his relationship with his mother strong in the next chapter of both their lives
- Exact Words: Zack decides to hire an exotic dancer named Koko for Esteban's bachelor party, which the ad claims to be "a party animal". Cue Koko being a person in a panda suit.
- Parents as People: Justified. After Esteban's mom rediscovers life without Esteban, he has trouble seeing her in this new light. He eventually comes around to accepting this as he realizes he's doing the same with his wife.
