Magazine Stories issues 101- 200
May 1936-June 1940. To help lighten some of Gibson's workload, Theodore Tinsley was brought on to write some of the novels beginning with issue 113, Partners of Peril. A 1932 Shadow story written by Lester Dent as a "tryout" for Street and Smith (and that ultimately won him the job of writing Doc Savage) was likewise dusted off and polished by Gibson for publication around this time.

Magazine Stories issues 201- 300
July, 1940-February, 1946. The magazine was decreased to digest size during this era, due to paper rationing for World War II.
Magazine Stories issues 301- 325
Walter Gibson was the primary writer until issue 305, when he was fired during a salary dispute and replaced with Bruce Eliot. The stories quickly became In Name Only, with The Shadow not even appearing in some of adventures of the Eliot era, instead featuring Lamont Cranston and Commissioner Weston. As a last-ditch attempt to win back the readership, Gibson was rehired and much of the old style of the glory days of the magazine was restored (including undoing the move to digest size). The changes came too little, too late, and The Shadow Magazine was terminated only four issues after Gibson's return.
- Malmordo, published July 1, 1946
Belmont Continuation Novels
These were novels written in the '60s that largely, with the exception of the first novel written by Gibson himself, were written by Dennis Lynds and which took a radically different view of the character, placing him in the James Bond style of spy adventure prevalent at the time.
