Go To

Airdate: 1989

When Bentley's older sister, Lisa, comes to visit the Evergreen Forest, Bert falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Cyril must choose between attending a camp reunion with Cedric or meeting up with a famous billionaire.

Spring Fever! contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: Relationships (especially romantic ones) take time to develop and aren't something that can be rushed.
  • Age-Gap Romance: Bert, a young adult, falls in love with Lisa, a girl in her teens. However, Lisa doesn't feel the same way about Bert and eventually, he agrees they're better off as friends.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: When Bert compares his date with Lisa to a scene from Love Is a Very Splendid Thing, Lisa imitates a Southern accent as part of her impression of Virginia Creeper.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: If Cyril knew that J.P. Gordon was also attending the banquet with Cedric, he could've been saved a lot of trouble.
  • Damsel in Distress: During Bert's Fantasy Sequence, Bert imagines rescuing Lisa as a princess from a castle guarded by a dragon.
  • Fantasy Sequence: After Bert agrees to meet Lisa at the Blue Spruce Cafe, Bert daydreams about being in love with Lisa.
  • Hand Gagging: Bert does this to Bentley when he tries to tell Lisa that Bert would like to go on a date with her.
  • Just Friends: When Lisa catches on that Bert is in love with her, she tries to let him down gently because she feels they've only just met and don't know each other well enough yet. Fearing she's made Bert upset, she writes a letter to him as soon as she gets home telling him that she'd still like to be friends with him.
  • Kissing Discretion Shot: In Bert's Fantasy Sequence, Bert (dressed as a mountie) kisses Lisa, but he blocks it from the audience's view with his hat.
  • Kissing In A Tree: Bentley teases Bert for having a crush on Lisa by doing this.
  • Love at First Sight: Bert instantly falls in love with Lisa when he first meets her.
  • Right in Front of Me: When Cyril decides to join Cedric on the train, he tells Cedric how he could've missed his opportunity to do so to meet J.P. Gordon, calling him a "snob of a multi-billionaire". However, it turns out Cedric is sitting next to J.P. Gordon himself, making things awkward for Cyril.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Bert tries to deny that he has a crush on Lisa, but it's rather obvious that he does.
  • Shout-Out: Love Is a Very Splendid Thing sounds similar to the title of the movie Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing.
  • Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Trailer: None of the Raccoons are featured in the episode's Precap due to it focusing on Cyril's subplot, leaving the reveal of Lisa a surprise.
  • Something Else Also Rises: When Lisa asks Bert if he wants to have a soda with her at the Blue Spruce Cafe, Bert's usually bent nose straightens itself out as hearts fill his eyes.
