The Lil' Patscals

Original air date: 4/24/2023

Patrick goes back in time to see what GrandPat's childhood was like. When he kicks his beloved can into a scary old house, the two (and GrandPat's friends) have to go inside to retrieve it.

The Lil' Patscals contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: While it's nice to stay inside and watch TV, do it in moderation. There's plenty of fun you can have outside with your friends, too.
  • Big "WHY?!": When GrandPat burns Patrick's TV, he shouts, "GrandPat, WHY!?" as a dramatic music sting plays.
  • Broken Glass Penalty: Patrick is playing with kid GrandPat and his friends. He accidentally kicks GrandPat's can into the spooky house of Old Man Jenkins, and they all go into the house to retrieve it.
  • Call-Back: GrandPat having lived during ice cream prohibition was a plot point in "Enemies a la Mode", and it comes up again here. Old Man Jenkins only makes his house look scary so kids and cops won't investigate and find the ice cream he stashed in his basement.
  • Childhood Friends: GrandPat, Mr. Krabs, Mrs. Puff, Granny Tentacles, and Old Man Walker were True Companions as kids who went on adventures. The ending shows that even though they're now much older, they still try to have fun together.
  • Dwindling Party: A non-death example. As the six Kelp-Bed Kids explore Old Man Jenkins' haunted house, each of them falls victims to traps within the house, and then is ejected through the chimney. Patrick and GrandPat are the only ones to make it to the end, falling into Jenkins' secret basement hideout.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Patrick likes watching a TV show that just consists of footage of a traffic light. He cheers when the signal changes.
  • Monochrome Past: When Patrick goes back to 1927, everything is in black and white.
  • Niche Network: The TV program Patrick watches is The Traffic Light Channel, which is just camera footage of a traffic light downtown. He doesn't like being interrupted from it.
  • Rambling Old Man Monologue: GrandPat's entire story to Patrick is long and boring. He starts off by talking about playing kick-the-can, then going into specifics over the advantages of each type of can he used.
  • Retraux Flashback: Patrick goes back to 1927, which is Deliberately Monochrome. The characters have rubberhose character designs, but since Patrick is from the modern era, he's fully colored and on-model. GrandPat and his friends help refit him to look more fitting for the era.
  • Two Girls to a Team: Mrs. Puff and Granny Tentacles, in the Retraux Flashback with GrandPat and co. as children.
  • Unreliable Narrator: GrandPat claims that while everyone else was afraid of the haunted house, he wasn't. The flashback Description Cuts to GrandPat nervously biting his fingernails as everyone enters the house effortlessly, with Patrick needing to convince GrandPat to go in.

The Prehistoric Patrick Star Show

Original air date: 4/25/2023

Hunting for ice cream, watching cavetoons, and discovering fire is all a day in the life for Cave Patrick and his family.

The Prehistoric Patrick Star Show contains examples of:

  • Brick Joke: Patrick interviews fire on his show. When he gets launched out of a volcano and lit on fire, he proceeds to greet the fire again.
  • Call-Back: Cave Patrick going around the house and looking for food brings to mind "Late for Breakfast", the first episode of the series.
  • Foreshadowing: GrandPat speaks in full English and looks mostly the same as his present-day self, but with a different outfit. This hints that he actually is the real GrandPat and not just a prehistoric ancestor, which is confirmed in the ending.
  • Funny Background Event: When Cave Patrick runs past Cave Cecil, you can see a cave painting of a pizza with legs in the background.
  • Opening Shout-Out: The episode begins with a recreation of the theme song, but with caveman Patrick instead.
  • Random Events Plot: There's not much of a plot to this one. It mainly focuses on the random antics that caveman Patrick and his family get up to.
  • When I Was Your Age...: GrandPat tells prehistoric Patrick that back in his day, it was easier to find food. We see him as a cell living in the primordial soup.

Patrick Goes to 1927

Patrick goes back in time to 1927 to see what his grandpa was like as a kid. Of course, he has to be redecorated to fit the style, first.
