This review provides examples of:
- Actor Allusion: In-Universe, the Critic pulls out a big book of Twilight jokes when he realizes Shark Boy and Jacob Black are both played by Taylor Lautner.
- Body Horror: The Critic is really squicked by Lava Girl's molten form, and more so by Minus' "brain fart".
- Call-Back: The Critic wonders if Planet Drool is really Planet Foodfight!, with its blatantly obviously CGI, even joking that he's looking forward to all the stereotypes and innuendos.
- Cue Card Pause: Mocked.Max: [sad] Your father really is at the bottom of the ocean. [happy] He's in a submarine, looking for you!
Critic!Max: It says here that he crashed... on the bed because he was so tired. But then apparently he died... of exhaustion because he's working so hard. But then a squid ripped off his head, ate his body and has been digesting it for weeks... is what he would call his memoirs if a squid ripped off his head, ate his body and spent— - Dull Surprise: Everyone, except the villains.
- Department of Redundancy Department: "Let's just hope the family enjoys it, because for the rest of us...um...let's just hope the family enjoys it."
- Evil Is Hammy: In a film of flat performances, the Critic is thrilled by Linus's performance, moreso as his alter-ego Minus, which the Critic claims will even give Joffrey Baratheon a run for his money.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: The joke scroll about Lavagirl's agent that the Critic has delivered to him on a silver platter actually reads "This Is Your joke, Dummy, Don't Blow It!".
- My Future Self and Me: Horrified by Minus's brainfart, the Critic calls up himself 20 minutes ago to warn him to get out of reviewing the film while he still can, or at least write an apology and put it under the desk. After that call, he gets a paper that says "SORRY" and cries into it.
- Shout-Out: "Let it blow, let it blow, at least I don't have penis hair."
- Visual Pun: After Lavagirl states that she's clueless, a butler delivers a joke on a silver platter to the Critic.
Send him to the principal's office and have him EXPELLED!
