• Mind Screw: Raoul Puke considers the whole film this right from the start.
  Puke: A dinosaur playing golf. I am thoroughly confused.
• Overly Long Gag: Puke starts repeatedly shouting "Shut up!" halfway through Stubbs' resignation scene. And for once, the scene wasn't extended for comedic effect, it really was that long!

• Something Else Also Rises
  Puke: I think somebody's getting a bone-a-saurus. Ha-ha... that joke is beyond me. I apologize.
• Shout-Out
  • Puke calls the opening scene of Rex and the little bird "a Far Side cartoon with no caption".
  • The opening sequence parodies the intro to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. A few other things, including Raoul Duke himself is a parody of Hunter S. Thompson and the film.
  • Puke says he's the father of "Fozzie journalism" instead of "Gonzo".
  • "This is The Land Before Time on crystal meth!"
  • The premise is compared to a Calvin and Hobbes "Spaceman Spiff" fantasy.
  • The line "Let no bad happen" is dubbed over footage of Yoda. A clip of Yoda laughing is played when Captain Neweyes repeats the line soon afterward.
  • Puke calls Screweyes's Circus of Fear "David Lynch's circus".
• Sidekick Creature Nuisance: Puke calls Vorb this.
  Puke: It looks like a cereal mascot that's been shit out by Marvin the Martian.
• Take That!: When Puke criticizes Screweyes's Brain Drain:
  Puke: You know, do you really have to invent something to make you dumber? That's why we have television, video games, and Martin Lawrence movies.
• Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: What Puke deems Cecilia's behavior when she decides Louie should be kissing her instead of the other way around.
  Puke: I don't like this slutty girl. She has sort of a Lolita thing going, it seems unnatural.
• Unusually Uninteresting Sight
  Puke: Kid, you're on a raft with FUCKING DINOSAURS! How about a little acknowledgement of this miracle, huh!?
• Whole-Plot Reference: The framing scenes are a parody of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
