Release: September 30, 2020

Focus: X-Men: Apocalypse

It may not be Dark Phoenix, but this X-Men film irked the Critic in some bad ways. What is it that made this film it's very own apocalypse? Find out now as the Nostalgia Critic takes a look at X-Men: Apocalypse.

  • Call-Back: The reason all of the X-Men featured in Jubilee's commercial change in ways that specifically undermine the points they had been making about the benefits of Xavier's School? It's Harry Potter, getting revenge on Jubilee for their last interaction.
  • Gilligan Cut: The Framing Device is Jubilee asking the Critic (who has done various commercial reviews in the past) to critique a commercial she shot for Xavier's School for Gifted Children, featuring staff and students proclaiming how the school has improved them...before a shift in the timeline changes them into blatantly contradicting the last thing they just said.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: When Wolverine transforms from a mentor figure to a bloodthirsty maniac, all we see is blood literally flying out of the Critic's screen.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: The Critic and Jubilee are fully aware when the personalities/histories of the X-Men in Jubilee's commercial change before their eyes.
