Movie: Tom and Jerry: Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

Tagline: It sure did! Our favorite cat and mouse with our favorite candy man to make our biggest blunder.

This review contains examples of:

  • Blackface: Referenced by the Critic during the furnace scene, where he says, "It's Tom and Jerry; they just brush it off, occasionally making a blackface joke." When Tom just turns into a pile of ash instead, the Critic responds, "None in this one? Whew! That would've been hard to explain to your kids."
  • Call-Back: The Critic compares Slugworth's behavior during his "We Can Rule Together" speech to Dr. Applecheeks' infamous approach to the ice cream cart in Tom and Jerry: The Movie.
Critic: What is it with Tom and Jerry and smiling predators walking slowly towards the camera?
  • The End: The Critic makes the film seemingly end on Tom burning to death in the furnace, complete with the end card from the original shorts. The Critic then attempts to show what really happened, only to show Tuffy's tunnel scene and the shorts' end card again.
  • Furry Confusion: The Critic gets confused by Tyke's cameo (in which he is being walked on a leash, unlike how Spike and Droopy were portrayed in this version).
  • Plot Hole:invoked The Critic points out that the contract signing scene that Wonka's rant was calling back to was not shown in this version, since the movie chose to focus on Tom and Jerry eavesdropping on Slugworth instead.
  • Running Gag:
  • Shout-Out: Jake VanDorn is shown being tortured by the "Friends to the End" song from Tom and Jerry: The Movie.
  • Subverted Catchphrase: "I'm the Nostalgia Critic, and... One more time. (Tuffy screams) I think we're all gonna remember that!"

"Are the fires of Hell a-glowing?"
