The Return of the Warlock: The wicked Warlock returns to attack Superman through his loved ones.
The Insect Raiders includes examples of the following tropes:
- All Webbed Up: Jimmy Olsen gets wrapped up in a cocoon when he is kidnapped by one of the Insect Raiders. Superman later borrows the cocooning gun to wrap up the villains.
- Hair-Trigger Explosive: A group of crooks using insectoid suits to commit robberies kidnap Jimmy, leaving him in a cavern full of explosive "eggs", which the leader warns Superman are very delicate.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: The insect raiders fall victim to one of the webbing guns that they use while committing robberies. Superman gets ahold of one and uses it to wrap up the fleeing felons.
- Idiosyncrazy: The Insect Raiders use insectoid suits and webbing guns to commit robberies, and the leader "welcomes" Superman with a quote from The Spider and the Fly.
- Papa Wolf: Superman cuts off the leader's Evil Gloating to demand to know where Jimmy is and warn him about the consequences if they hurt him at all. He's furious when the villain tells him about the explosives.

- Driving Up a Wall: The Warlock enchants Lois' car so that it drives up a skyscraper.
- Falling into Jail: Superman first makes Warlock think his car is about to crash into the wall of the penitentiary, before lifting the car over wall and dumping him out in the prison yard.
- Revenge by Proxy: The Warlock attacks Superman's "friends" at the Daily Planet to get revenge on him. Admittedly, he does note that his magic can't affect Superman directly.
- Undead Fossils: The Warlock uses magic to bring a dinosaur skeleton to life to attack Jimmy. Unusually, it appears to be an apatosaurus rather than a T-Rex or something similarly intimidating.
