- Celebrity Paradox: As mentioned below, this episode features a Dynasty (1981) parody. This is a few episodes after Joan Collins played Max's stepmother.
- Contrived Coincidence: Both Fran and Bob arrive at the same wedding for their cousin. Turns out they are related to each other.
- Fan Disservice: The makeout scene between Fran and Bob becomes this once it's revealed they're cousins.
- Fantasy Sequence: Fran imagines herself as Alexis in an Affectionate Parody of Dynasty, complete with a Cat Fight between Fran/Alexis and C.C./Krystle.
- Five-Second Foreshadowing: Just before the reveal, Fran tells Bob she is there for her cousin's wedding and Bob tells her that he is there for his cousin's wedding.
- Kissing Cousins: As indicated by the Spoiler Title, Bob turns out to be Fran's cousin. It's not stated to what degree they're related, but they're grossed out and immediately end their relationship regardles.
