Tropes

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Even Mandy is terrified of Goodvibes when he barges into his office after the Duck vanishes.
  • Blowing a Raspberry: The duck's signature act of evil.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: After spending the whole episode blowing raspberries and having others blamed for it, the Duck farts out of fear when Mandy gives it a scathing Breaking Speech, shortly before vanishing for the remainder of the episode.
  • The Cameo: Hector Con Carne is among the people jailed.
  • Comically Small Bribe: Irwin tries to bail out Grim from jail with $4.28. The warden gets really offended by that amount and states the bail is set at $3,500. With Irwin unable to pay that much, the warden screams at him to Get Out! of his jail. Irwin runs away crying... only to get arrested a few minutes later for the same offense.
  • Cutaway Gag: Mr. Hinkey who has no importance to the plot other than deviate from the ghost duck for a while.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The Endsville police lock up the duck's victims for "farting" so much. Though seeing that Grim and Irwin's grandma were free at the end of the episode, they might have only gotten a sentence for 2 weeks at most (or they were released to make room for the overcrowded cell).
  • Establishing Character Moment: Irwin's grandma, Tanya makes her debut and she wastes no time in letting you know she's a no-nonsense, hardcore old lady.
  • Extra-Long Episode: The episode is about two minutes longer than the 11-minute norm for most episodes. The following episode is shorter to compensate for it.
  • For the Evulz: The duck wants you to get into trouble just cause he takes amusement in it.
  • Foreshadowing: Mandy is unusually deferential to Principal Goodvibes when she's called into his office. See Beware the Nice Ones as to why.
  • Foul Waterfowl: The duck blames his farts on you so you get in trouble for it.
  • Gasshole: The duck wants you to be perceived as this by society.
  • Harmless Villain: It's not really the duck himself you have to watch out for, it's the authorities who think you're breaking the law because the duck's making you take the blame for it.
  • Hidden Harasser: A ghost duck, visible only by the victim it chooses, makes loud fart noises, making everyone believe that said victim is farting. It only does it For the Lulz.
  • Humans Are Morons: Grim calls out the humans for stupidly mistaking him for having farted even though he's a skeleton for crying out loud.
  • I'm Not Afraid of You: Mandy is immune to the duck's tormenting, thanks to a lifetime of dealing with Billy's stupidity.
  • Mistaken for Flatulence: The episode centers around an Underworld duck, who only its chosen victim can see, that constantly blows raspberries so that others will accuse the victim of farting in inappropriate times, and subsequently landing them in jail.
Harold: Hey, a duck! [Smash Cut to Harold behind bars] What the heck just happened?!
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: Grim when he takes off his cloak in front of children to expose he's a skeleton and so he can't possibly be farting like they stupidly assumed. The police do not accept this kind of behavior.
  • The Nameless: The duck's never given a proper name other than being called a duck.
  • Never Mess with Granny: Irwin's dad threatens to call off the baseball game if Irwin doesn't "stop farting" in front of his grandma.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Irwin tries, and fails, to post Grim's bail, it leads to him being the Duck's next victim.
  • Noisy Duck: The ghost duck torments people by making fart noises, making others (who can't see the duck) think they farted. It gets so bad people start getting put in jail for it.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Grim's reaction when the police officer comes to arrest him.
    • Mandy's reaction seeing just how angry Principal Goodvibes is at her for the intercom "fart".
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Mandy is too terrified of Goodvibes to talk back to him.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Mandy is able to successfully get rid of the duck with a "The Reason You Suck" Speech, saying how it is nothing compared to what she goes through with Billy everyday. Unfortunately though, the damage the duck did before vanishing is done and Mandy is still blamed for it by getting detention for several weeks.
  • The Scapegoat: The person being followed by the duck ends up taking the heat for the duck's raspberries.
  • Scary Librarian: Even though she tries to be asserting, Mandy isn't even the slightest bit intimidated by her. Mandy knows that the librarian is (wrongly) blaming her for the duck's raspberries but she doesn't give a shit and just sits there and fires back insults that make the librarian even angrier.
  • Shout-Out: The beginning of the episode has Grim and Billy say some of the lyrics to Once in a Lifetime.
  • Smash Cut: This is used a lot in the episode, where someone notices the Duck but is sent straight to jail.
  • Suddenly Shouting: "I beat the snot out of a guy... FOR FARTING!!"
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Irwin attempts to bail Grim out with little money, but is immediately shut down and finds out that it’s really expensive.
  • Talking the Monster to Death: Mandy defeats the duck by giving him one hell of a Breaking Speech, which cause the duck to disappear.
Mandy: You think you've won? That you've broken me? Humiliated me? Driven me crazy? When every day of my life I've had to deal with- [cut to a montage of Billy doing random stupidities]. Compared to that, you're just an insignificant pimple on the butt of the world's smallest amoeba! You have no power over me.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: After Irwin, Dick, Tanya and Harold all join him in the same slammer, Grim prophesizes that the slammer will be overcrowded by the duck in 4 hours. The outcome is twice as fast (only 2 hours), and there's not even any space for the prisoners to move around anymore.
  • Truth in Television: As seen with Comically Small Bribe above, Irwin tries to bail Grim out with $4.28. Turns out bailing someone from jail is very expensive.
  • What Are You in For?: Grim asks this to his fellow prison mate. He responds it was for assaulting a guy for farting. Grim is less than thrilled to hear that.

Aren't You Chupacabra to See Me?

Tropes

  • Brain Bleach: Grim warns Billy that Chupacabras cause pain and suffering wherever they go. Billy says that he isn’t suffering, and that's when “Daisy” eats his clothes, leaving him completely naked in front of Grim and Mandy, who have this reaction.
Grim: Well, I am. [covers his eyes]
Mandy: [covering her eyes as well] I’m blind
  • Informed Species: Daisy looks nothing like the chupacabra.
  • Kick the Dog: Or in this case, cat. Billy's cat Milkshake is stuck up a tree and yet Stupid Boy will not rescue him.
  • Timmy in a Well: Billy's seen the same Labbie movie 60 times consecutively and yet never gains any memory of what the ending is.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Fed up with Billy watching "Labbie" over and over, Grim incinerates the video tape and forces the kids to pick another movie, ANY other movie, at a video store.
    Billy: Let's watch it again!
Grim and Mandy: NO!! [Grim telekinetically pulls out the Labbie tape out of the VCR]
Grim: NO MORE LABBIE! [burns the tape with fire in his hand]
  • Shout-Out:
    • The movie Billy keeps watching over and over is "Labbie, Go Home".
    • The chupacabra coming out of the TV is an obvious nod to Samara from The Ring.
