"I told you not to follow me."
Written by Melissa R. Byer & Treena Hancock
Directed by Jonathan Frakes

"Reed, she's not a little kid wandering around lost. She's turning away from us. She's headed towards her brother, towards the Inner Circle."
John Proudstar / Thunderbird

The Frost sisters try to tempt Lauren into joining the Inner Circle. Blink has to ask Caitlin for help in treating a member of the Morlocks. Lorna continues investigating Reeva's plans.

Tropes:

  • AB Negative: Glow is wounded, and the only person that shares her specific brand of glowing blood is Marcos.
  • Badass Boast: Lorna does an awesome one when Max threatens her.
"You see, my guess is I think you're forgetting who you're talking to. I am Polaris. My father was part of the Inner Circle before it even was the Inner Circle. Around here that makes me royalty. So if you're gonna run your mouth, you better have a lot more than a guess."
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Lauren is not herself after her talk with Andy in their dreams and she almost does join up with the Inner Circle.
  • Cliffhanger: Marcos ambushes Max in an attempt to capture him, but Max pulls a pistol and manages to shoot Marcos in the side. There's a struggle, Max is killed, and Marcos stumbles out of the car to safety just before it explodes.
  • Danger Takes a Backseat: In a rare heroic version of this trope, Marcos does this in Max's car.
  • Flashback: This flashback shows Erg being betrayed by his human lover back when he was working with Evangeline.
  • Get Out!: Erg towards Pam once he realizes that she betrayed them.
  • A House Divided: The few Underground members left refuse to follow John and Marcos into a suicidal fight.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: In the flashback, Erg's lover, Pam, tells him the group was separated. Erg wants to get to Evangeline before she goes into a trap, Pam saying she's okay as "once she gets to Flint, she'll be fine." Erg realizes he's never told anyone where the crossings happen, which leads to Pam confessing she was turned by Sentinel Services.
  • Mirror Character: Erg is in many ways similar to Agent Turner of all people - both let their respective bad experiences with humans/mutants shape them into xenophobes, who won't even consider the possibility that members of the different species might be benign towards them. At the end of the episode however, Erg seems to be slowly getting over it.
  • Never Sleep Again: During the beginning of the episode, Lauren drinks tons of coffee and tries to stay awake by any means to avoid being tempted by Andy again.
  • Power Nullifier: Lauren takes Reed's serum so she won't be tempted to join Andy.
  • Properly Paranoid: Max is right about everything he suspects Lorna of doing.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Blink goes against Erg's wishes and brings Caitlin to treat Glow. Erg reluctantly goes along with it and eventually realizes he was too quick to judgement.
  • Spotting the Thread: Max immediately sees that somebody has been into his room, his time in prison having given him hyper-awareness of anything in his room being out of place.
  • Swiss-Army Superpower: Lorna uses her powers to crack the password on Sage's PC. She explains it as being able to sense familiar patterns, such as a password used on a regular basis.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: At the end of the episode, Erg seems to be taking his first steps of getting over his anti-human bigotry. He even symbolically paints an M on Caitlin's face.
  • Unrequited Love: Glow is obviously still pretty enamored with Marcos, whose heart belongs to Lorna.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We never learned what became of Pam following her betrayal of Erg.

"You're not alone. And I think I can help you."
