Fred gets Barney a job at the quarry where Fred works at. However, Barney is quickly promoted to Fred’s boss, making Fred jealous.

- Bested at Bowling: The normally good bowler Fred loses a game to his wife, Wilma. She seems to pick up quickly on why this happened: Fred is so distracted by the rupture in his friendship with Barney that resulted when Barney became his boss.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Barney's promotion causes Fred to become so jealous of having been Passed-Over Promotion that their friendship falls apart. A big reason is that Fred just helped Barney get hired at the quarry.
- Nepotism: Double Subverted. When Fred goes to ask Mr. Slate that he please hire his friend Barney, who has been laid off from his previous job, it doesn't work. It's not until Slate realizes that Barney is his nephew that he gives him a job. And not only that, he promotes him to be the boss!
