Recap / The Dreamstone S 03 E 01 The Return

Go To

Original Air Date (UK):

Zordrak and his minions ready themselves for revenge against the Land of Dreams as Urpgor hides the Nightmare Stone for good. Blob, Frizz and Nug are launched onto Wutt territory and Spildit brings them back to Viltheed.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Accidental Kidnapping: Spildit travelling with Blob's men to Viltheed gets mistaken as a kidnapping by the heroes.
  • All-Powerful Bystander: Zordrak contributes absolutely nothing to the villains' escape from the Nightmare Planet outside barking at them whenever their arguing slows down progress.
  • Friendly Enemy: Spildit helps the Urpneys back to Viltheed. The two fractions spend most of the episode conversing nonchalantly, even sympathizing with each other's treatment from Urpgor.
  • Happy Ending Override: Again, played straight for the heroes, and reversed for the Urpneys. Just when the former thought they were finally rid of them and Zordrak, they manage to survive their Bolivian Army Ending from "Return of the Nightmare Stone" and begin rebuilding Viltheed.
  • Pragmatic Villainy:
    • Despite planning to punish Urpgor for his betrayal last episode, and being more than a little suspicious of his involvement in the current events, Zordrak decides to turn a blind eye now he is his only resource for schemes again, though with the clear warning that he better find a way to get him back Viltheed.
    • None of the Urpneys, or even Zordrak, seem that bothered by Spildit playing in Viltheed, more preoccupied in rebuilding Viltheed. Zordrak immediately sends in the troops when the Noops interrupt the process while "rescuing" her however.
  • Sequel Episode: To "Return of The Nightmare Stone".
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Spildit offers to get Blob, Frizz and Nug back to Viltheed on her leaf after they get stranded in the Wut Forest.
  • Sympathy for the Hero: In turn, Nug relates to Spildit after she is bullied by Urpgor.
    Nug: He's often like that.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After a gruelling effort to escape to the Nightmare Planet, Blob and his troops are finally catapulted back to their home world, but in the Land of Dreams' side. Before they are found however, Spildit discovers them and offers them a ride to Viltheed.
  • Villain Ball: Zordrak discovers Urpgor's map of the coordinates to the Nightmare Stone, but mistakes it for a piece of useless scribbles. He force feeds Urpgor the paper out of annoyance, ironically helping the latter destroy any chance of him finding the Nightmare Stone again.
