  • Green Around the Gills: While Mirabel gets her sea-legs by the second week, Luisa suffers from serious seasickness.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In-Universe. Hiccup and Mirabel banter about how Mirabel is the only interested in sailing because she's a nerd, with her pointing out how nerdy Hiccup is.
  • Instant Expert: When the novelty of being on the ocean wears off, Mirabel occupies her time by learning how to sail. By the time they hit a storm, Mirabel takes charge of the situation.
  • Internal Reveal: It's when a second Snotlout was on the ship do everyone realize that the first Snotlout was actually Camilo in disguise.
  • Make a Wish: After suffering several weeks on the ship, it's when the Madrigals (and Hiccup) earnestly wish their trip would end is when a mysterious storm manifest that takes them to Berk.
  • Moment Killer: Hiccup and Mirabel are engaging in playful banter, and are about to kiss...only to interrupted by Luisa vomiting over the side of the boat. Snotlout laughs at them before Luisa takes a swing at him and Mirabel orders him to row.
  • Mythology Gag: Hiccup muttering "Miercoles" is a reference to when Augustin said it in Encanto.
  • Saying Too Much: When Luisa voices concern about the ocean, Fishlegs goes on to explain how there are many Tidal-class dragons who would have no trouble sinking their ship and picking them off in the water. Isabela is not amused.
