"Invitations" is the seventh episode of season 1 of The Chosen.
Matthew struggles to reconcile the miracles he has witnessed with reality. Nicodemus meets with Jesus by night.
This episode provides examples of:
- Calling Parents by Their Name: Matthew visits his parents' home and fumbles over calling his mother "Eema" ("Mother") or "Elisheva" (her name). Then he refers to his father by his name "Alphaeus".
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Matthew's parents are struggling financially, but his mother is insulted when he suggests that he can give them money.
- Flashback: The episode opens with Moses forging the bronze snake (Numbers 21:4-9).
- Holy Ground: In response to his conversation with Jesus, Nicodemus is uncertain of everything, except that he is standing on holy ground. Or Holy Roof rather.
- In the Hood: Andrew brings Jesus a dark hooded cloak for his meeting with Nicodemus.
- Jumped at the Call: Matthew left his job mid-shift to join Jesus once he was asked.
