The Two of Clubs: Ronnie Anne and Sid look for an after-school activity to do together, but nothing seems to be right for them both.
Vacation Daze: When Maria finally gets a day off, Ronnie Anne has to compete with her family for some much-needed quality time.
"The Two of Clubs" provides examples of:
- Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Sid tries to rejoin the lucha libre club, and Ronnie Anne tries to rejoin the robotics club. So, they decide to form a lucha libre robotics club!
- Butt-Monkey: Laird ends up either hit plunger arrows, or covered in clay, or hit with knitting needles, or squirted with squid ink.
- Epic Fail: Several of Ronnie Anne and Sid's attempts to join after-school clubs:
- Ronnie Anne enjoys lucha libre, but Sid doesn't.
- Sid enjoys robotics, but Ronnie Anne doesn't.
- Ronnie Anne enjoys pottery, but Sid doesn't.
- Sid enjoys knitting, but Ronnie Anne doesn't.
- Ronnie Anne enjoys cooking, but Sid doesn't.
- Homeschooled Kids: After taking one too many beatings, Laird declares that he misses being homeschooled.
- Your Makeup Is Running: When Ronnie Anne and Sid decide to take separate clubs, it looks like Sid is crying mascara-smudged tears. Subverted in that Sid explains that it's really squid ink (although she is sad).
"Vacation Daze" provides examples of:
- A Bloody Mess: Two of Bobby's injuries are this. First, he comes in with what appears to be a bleeding finger but turns out to be covered in hot sauce. Second, he returns with what appears to be a bleeding foot, but again, it got covered in hot sauce after he dropped a pineapple on it.
- Body Horror: Arturo phones Maria to try to figure out how to treat a rash on his hand. Said rash is so unsightly you can barely recognize his hand as a hand!
- Butt-Monkey: Bobby getting various injuries at the mercado.
- Drama King: Lampshaded by Ronnie Anne when Bobby has a panic attack over getting a splinter.
- Jerkass Realization: Ronnie Anne gets this when she and Maria are reunited after being separated at the subway. Once at home, Maria explains that she was exhausted and fell asleep at the train station.
- The Matchmaker: Throughout the episode, Carlota tries to find worthy men for her Tia Maria to hook up with.
- Minor Injury Overreaction: Bobby gets like this when he first gets a splinter in his finger, then gets hot sauce on the same finger.
- Rage Breaking Point: Ronnie Anne finally snaps when Bobby, Carl, Carlota, and Arturo keep piling requests on Maria.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: The problem of Maria's Sleep Deprivation is solved by Ronnie Anne allowing her to take a nap, and the lack of quality time is resolved by Maria promising to spend a proper day with Ronnie Anne (and presumably make sure she's not tired) next time. It's also possible that Bobby got over his minor injuries, but what about Carl's glue situation and Arturo's rash?
