Elizabeth listens to tapes from a bug inside Pastor Tim's office when she hears Paige talking with Pastor Tim, confirming he knows about them. She immediately wants to kill Pastor Tim, but Philip points out it would destroy Paige. Paige ends up confessing to Elizabeth that she told Pastor Tim, and while she's furious with Paige for betraying their family, Elizabeth is glad Paige admitted the truth.
Philip tries to pass on the box containing the bacteria to a pilot so it can be taken out of the country, but on the bus where Philip meets the pilot, a security guard gets suspicious about the pilot acting nervous, and Philip has to kill him, after which the pilot doesn't take the box, so Philip has to return it to Gabriel.
Philip tells Elizabeth about the fight he had with Stan, and the fact he's been going to EST meetings, which Elizabeth is stunned by, but when she asks if she can come along some time, he agrees.
Nina is reunited with her husband, Boris, and they are happy to see each other. Nina asks if he can take something out for her - a note for Anton's son. Unfortunately, the KGB intercepts the message, and Nina ends up going back to the prison.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth finds out from Gabriel her mother passed away, and Arkady tells Oleg his brother was killed in Afghanistan.
This episode contains examples of:
- All for Nothing: When Stan tells Oleg they weren't able to trade for Nina, Oleg feels this way as well.
- Brick Joke: In the previous episode, while waiting for a meeting with William, Elizabeth and Philip both discuss the fact Henry's wearing cologne, which they think he's too young for, and they can't stand the smell. When Henry is talking with Stan in this episode (see Hot for Teacher below), Stan mentions Matthew has a bottle of the same cologne, which he never uses, and offers it to Henry.
- Call-Back: Gaad tells Stan they were able to confirm Zinaida was a KGB agent without having to use the tape he made of Oleg.
- Character Title
- Dead Drop: Discussed; Philip wonders why the box with the bacteria can't be put in a dead drop, William tells him the results would be catastrophic. This becomes important in the next couple of episodes.
- Deadpan Snarker: When Gaad tells Stan he's meeting with Gene's parents and they have a lawyer:Stan: We didn't kill him.
Gaad: That much we know. - Diegetic Switch: "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell goes from being played from the Walkman worn by the girl on the bus (see Unusually Uninteresting Sight below) to being played as score over the scene.
- Dream Sequence: Elizabeth has a nightmare where Paige finds Pastor Tim dead in his cabin, only for him to turn into Timoshev.
- Honor Before Reason: Nina could have avoided passing along the note to her husband to give to Anton's son, and likely, she would have gained even more privileges and possibly even her freedom. Instead, tiring of having to play the game for the KGB, she has the note passed, the result being she has to go back to prison.
- Hot for Teacher: Henry tells Stan he has a crush on his science teacher.
- Pet the Dog: Gabriel brings a computer for Elizabeth and Philip to give to Paige and Henry, because he and the Centre know it's something they will use.
- Product Placement: The cologne Henry wears is Ralph Lauren.
- Sarcasm Mode: When Stan tells Oleg he's sorry about his brother, Oleg responds, "Are we friends now?"
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: When Philip kills the security guard on the bus, the other passengers are a man sleeping on the bus, and a young woman listening to music on her Walkman. Neither of them notice anything.
