Gumball: No, seriously, there is no fuss. You just said you didn't want a fuss. Also, what is all this fuss about?

Nicole is upset at her family, Richard in particular, for forgetting a date whose importance she refuses to explain.

Tropes:

  • 6 Is 9: Because the calendar is upside down, Nicole thinks it's November first (11/01) when it's actually October 11 (10/11).
  • An Aesop: It's better to be direct with someone rather than making a fuss. Alternatively, don't jump to conclusions.
  • Behind the Black:
    • During Nicole's song, she doesn't notice the (fake) rain and background music are being made by her family until the camera pulls back to show them.
    • During the Split Screen, Nicole and the kids are unable to see anything beyond the borders of their side of the screen.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Nicole has trouble admitting to the others that she was wrong about the date. So Anais does it for her.
  • Continuity Nod: Once again, Anais warns Gumball too late not to put water on an electrical fire.
  • Embarrassing Tattoo: Subverted in the second half of the episode, which is about stopping Richard from tattooing the wrong date on his butt so he wouldn't forget. They fail to stop him, but having heard she was wrong for once, Richard realized he was onto something, and planned to hold onto it in commemoration of the event. That is, until a moment later, when he gets it changed so it reads "Love".
  • Empathic Environment: It starts raining when Nicole starts singing about being forgotten. Parodied when it turns out it was just Richard and the kids faking it so she could finish the song and reveal what they had forgotten.
  • Forgotten Anniversary: Nicole thinks Richard forgot their anniversary. Turns out she got the date wrong.
  • Gagging on Your Words: Nicole can't bring herself to say she was wrong.
  • Had the Silly Thing in Reverse: The whole plot gets started because the calendar in the kitchen was hung upside down. Anais realizes this when she notices that what looks like a picture of a swan with nipples in the calendar is actually an elephant face. It happens again at the tattoo parlor, as the artist has the paper upside down. (Un?)Fortunately, Richard notices it before the tattoo artist starts and corrects him.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: Nicole sings about Richard letting her down, but stops it when she notices her family are trying to use it to find out what's so important about that day.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Thinking Richard forgot their wedding anniversary, Nicole gets upset and starts treating her family harshly; she outright refuses to tell them what the issue is, leaving them absolutely clueless and in panic as they scramble to figure it out by themselves, and goes so far as to tear up the card Gumball made for her and drop the cake the family had baked on the floor. Once she learns that she had the date incorrect all this time, she makes a face of genuine shock as reality sets in that she had done her family wrong.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: Nicole tries to assure everyone she's fine they forgot how special the day it is even though she's clearly insinuating how upset and hurt she is. Everyone but Anais is too oblivious to pick up on it, but when Gumball calls her out on it she irritably explains what she's doing using subtitles on other passive-aggressive statements.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Nicole's refusal to tell her family what's so special about the current day kicks off the whole plot.
  • Split Screen: Spoofed. As Richard is about to get the tattoo, a split screen shows the others racing to stop him, but they can't see ahead because the split is blocking their view. Eventually, Nicole kicks the split screen away, hitting the jolly hamburger cop in the process.
  • Spotting the Thread: Anais notices it's weird that the "swan" on their calendar had nipples and after taking a moment to analyze it realizes it's hung upside-down.
  • Title Drop: Done multiple times throughout the episode.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Even though they obviously still don't know why the day is important, Gumball, Darwin, Anais and Richard still went to the trouble of decorating the living room, writing a card, composing an entire song and baking a cake for Nicole to cheer her up. Nicole only gets more mad and even goes so far as tearing the card to pieces and throwing the cake on the ground.
