Gumball's parents have to go to a school meeting, but cannot find a good babysitter (the one Richard hired is a literal slimeball who wants to literally sit on children). They leave Gumball and Darwin to babysit Anais with the instruction to be responsible, but Darwin and Gumball take it too far.

Tropes:

  • Anti-Role Model: Gumball and Darwin try to put out a flaming TV set with water and electrify themselves: after Anais explains you're supposed to use a fire extinguisher or baking soda, Gumball claims what they did was a responsible demonstration of what not to do.
  • Attack! Attack... Retreat! Retreat!:
Gumball: You can run but you can't hide!
    (Anais starts throwing food)
Gumball and Darwin: Ah, run! Hide!
  • Babysitting Episode: Darwin and Gumball are put in charge of watching Anais, even though she's more mature than they are.
  • Babysitter from Hell: Gumball and Darwin, unintentionally.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment:
Anais: So you're not angry at us for trashing the house?
Nicole: Oh no. Angry doesn't BEGIN to cover it!
  • Big "WHAT?!": Anais's response to finding out her brothers are going to babysit her.
  • Bowdlerise:
    • The (literally) slimy baby sitter who comes to "sit on a baby" was even worse in some of the concept art, where he was a living pair of underwear (called "Albert the Pervert" or "Harry, the Hairy Pants Pervert"). It's possible some of those weren't even meant for the actual episode.
    • Cartoon Network Asia's version shortens the part where Gumball and Darwin wreck the TV by having them hit the TV once instead of multiple times.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Gumball stuffs the diaper he tried to make Anais wear in his pocket. When the kids are plummeting to the ground he pulls it out and says they can use it as an Improvised Parachute, but they hit the ground before he can try.
  • Delayed Reaction: Gumball, at first, reacts to the burning TV in a calm manner... before instantly freaking out.
Gumball: It's not on fire. (he and Darwin glance at the TV; it is) Oh, it is on fire... (grabs Darwin by the cheeks and screams) FIRE!
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The slimeball babysitter that Richard found online is meant to be a G-rated take on a pedophile.
  • Eating Shoes: Gumball serves Anais a dinner with a "little surprise": an old, dirty boot.
  • Establishing Character Moment:
    • Richard's is him failing to put on his pants and trying to use this as an excuse to not go to the parent's evening.
    • Anais' is her explaining the proper way to put out an electrical fire after Gumball and Dawrin try (and fail) to put out the TV with water.
  • False Reassurance: Gumball asks where the keys to the house are. Darwin, seeing them inside through the window, meekly replies that they're "somewhere safe".
  • Furry Reminder: Darwin has no problem while swimming underwater while Gumball almost drowns.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Gumball and Darwin destroy the TV because they think the commercials will rot her brain, and Gumball says there's too much violence on TV anyway.
Anais: And you chose to demonstrate that by smashing the TV in front of me?
Gumball: It was the responsible thing to do.
  • It's All My Fault: Subverted as Gumball decides to take the rap for flooding the house, but when he sees the fire in his mom's eyes, he shifts the blame to Darwin and so on. After they quarrel, Richard eventually decides to blame it on the Internet, to which everyone agrees.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Gumball and Darwin act like they're mature and responsible, but they cause so much destruction in the house (even flooding it) and babysit Anais poorly that she gets fed up and locks them out of the house.
  • Man Bites Man: Anais gets taken for a walk on a leash and bites Marvin who tries to feed her a cracker.
  • Man-Made House Flood: The house gets flooded at one point.
  • Noodle Incident: On the list of things Gumball and Darwin did in school, one involved them somehow setting fire to a swimming pool.
  • "Not Wearing Pants" Dream: Referenced, as Richard had to go to the parent-teacher conference without pants (because he can't find a pair that fits) and says he feels like he's in "one of those dreams. The ones where you go to school naked."
  • Only Sane Man: Anais is the only one with common sense and has to put up with Gumball and Darwin's tomfoolery throughout the episode.
  • "Open!" Says Me: Gumball tries to knock open the front door with his shoulder when the house is flooded, but true to the gag, it fails both because he shouldn't have used his shoulder and because of the huge amount of water pressure on the other side.
  • Opening the Flood Gates: The house floods when Anais leaves the tub running, so Gumball and Darwin try to drain it by opening the front door. They can't get it open because they don't have the key, and instead escape out the chimney, leaving Nicole and Richard to open it on themselves.
  • Popping Buttons: Nicole forcefully buttons Richard's pants and zips them up, only for the button to fly off and the belt to unfasten a minute later when he is confronted.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Gumball tries breaking down the house door after getting locked out, but he fails because he's a weak twelve year-old, he used his shoulder instead of kicking near the door jamb, and in this case, the entire house is flooded and the door is held shut by the pressure from vast amount of water in the house.
    • After being shot up the chimney by all the water, Gumball, Darwin, and Anais start falling to their doom, but Gumball declares that they can use the diaper to parachute to safety. But before he could finish his sentence, the trio land on the ground injured, but alive. Even if they had more air time, it's doubtful that the diaper would've functioned like an actual parachute.
  • Second Episode Introduction: The first episode featuring Richard and Anais.
  • Shaped Like Itself: Gumball and Darwin forbid Anais from climbing up the stairs to the second floor because "79% of stair accidents happen on the stairs."
  • Toilet Teleportation: Darwin and Gumball get into the locked house by going through the sewers and climbing out the toilet.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Gumball and Darwin are complete idiots when they babysit Anais terribly. Anais (unintentionally) leaves the water running in the tub, eventually flooding the whole house, making Nicole angry when she got back.
  • Tyop on the Cover: This episode's initial airing left out the word "The" in the title card.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: Gumball vomits up all the water he swallowed/breathed in while swimming through the house.
