Richard and Mr. Robinson are both put under house arrest after fighting over a trash can, and each tries to continue it through Gumball and Darwin.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: Understanding someone you hate is important for ending a feud.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Mrs. Robinson comes into the room and puts two bags on a table before leaving, then you hear Gumball and Darwin whispering and the camera zooming in on the bags. You would expect them to pop up from the bags, but they don't; they come out from the painting above.
  • Bolivian Army Ending: The episode ends with Richard and Mr. Robinson resuming their briefly concluded feud as they're arrested for breaking house arrest, without any explanation as to why they aren't in jail by the next episode.
  • Bowdlerization: Cartoon Network Arabia's version edits the part where Gumball and Darwin take Marvin the red jelly bean's cane and Marvin whining that he's too old to walk without it to remove the part where the Black Hexagon Lady walks by and Marvin immediately says hello to her.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Threats made to Mr. Robinson to end the feud include setting his alarm clock late ("I won't know how to reprogram it!") and setting it so that way it only plays "young people's music".
  • Comically Missing the Point:
Mr. Robinson: (picks up a video camera with a note attached) 'Play me'? What kind of musical instrument is this?
(Blows into eyepiece like a horn.)
  • Crazy-Prepared: Richard has a bag of chips hidden in a bathroom wall just in case he discovered his tub was full of cheese.
  • Crush Parade: The can Darwin and Gumball thought Richard and Mr. Robinson were locked in falls into the middle of a street, gets juggled around in the air by collisions with several different cars, is stepped on by Hector, struck by lightning, and crushed under a falling satellite. However, that can turns out to just have trash it in; they were really in the can next to that one.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Mr. Robinson.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: After his cane is swiped, Marvin feebly whines about how he's too old to walk without it. Just then, the Hexagon Lady walks by causing him drop the act to impress her.
  • Feud Episode: Between Richard and Robinson over their trash bins.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Invoked by Mr. Robinson after he and Richard are forced to talk their issues out.
Mr. Robinson: You know Watterson, maybe you and I aren't so different after all...
  • Police Brutality: Donut Cop, clearly sick and annoyed by their fighting, hits Richard and Mr. Robinson with his taser for violating their house arrest even though neither one was doing anything violent or trying to escape.
  • Rollerblade Good: Gumball catches up a trash can rolling down a hill by having Darwin wear Mr. Small's rollerblades while he rides on top of Darwin.
  • Schmuck Bait: Richard follows the advice of an anonymous letter to stick his face out the window, putting him close enough for Mr. Robinson to poke him in the face with a bee on the end of a very long stick.
Richard: Hmm... all evidence points to this letter being a trap. But what if it's a nice surprise, like a cake!? Or a kiss?
(sticks face out the window and is poked by the bee)
Richard: Ahhh! It was a trap! Unless this bee tastes of honey.
(Richard sticks his tongue out in front of the bee, scene changes as more stinging can be heard)
Richard: Ah, it doesn't! It tastes of pain!
  • Spanner in the Works: Darwin and Gumball locked Richard and Mr. Robinson in a trash can to force them to work together to get out. Problem is, Richard ate the entire cake they were left before they're told it has the key.
Gumball: You have fifteen minutes before the police arrive.
Richard: I'm pretty sure it'll be more than fifteen minutes before we see that key again.
  • Take That!: Gumball and Darwin blackmail Mr. Robinson into stopping his feud with Richard by threatening to change his clock radio to play "young people music"-followed by a snippet of a "Baby" parody, which causes Mr. Robinson to scream in agony, "HE SAID THE WORD 'BABY' OVER 17 TIMES!!!"
  • Two Scenes, One Dialogue: Parodied as Richard and Mr. Robinson both seem to be doing this with identical explanations of their house arrest and blaming the other, but then:
Gumball: Dad, could you explain that again, this time using full sentences?
Richard: I would love to, but I'm too busy...
    (camera remains on Richard)
Mr. Robinson: (yelling from offscreen) Plotting my revenge!
