The Third Eldritch sister turns out to be the Piper, real name Maliflua. But when she is defeated and the pieces of the Gem of the Crown of Souls are reunited, there is mysteriously still one piece missing.
Tropes:
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Even though the backstory of the Eldritch Sisters implies that they fight among themselves so much that they would never come together to reunite the gem of the crown of souls, they all seem genuinely happy to have their long lost sister back.
- Brick Joke: Duchess originally agreed to go on the quest for the Gem of the Crown of Souls if they could get ice cream afterwards. Now that the quest is over, she asks if they can finally go out for ice cream.
- Call-Back: The Piper/Maliflua is eager to get her revenge on Puss in Boots for the events of "Bees".
- Disproportionate Retribution: In her youth, Maldonna wrote a popular selling book all about her family. Her sisters were so annoyed that she gave away their secrets that they erased all memory of her ever existing.Malarena: Yeah, that might have been a bit of an overreaction on our part.
- Heel–Face Turn: The witches all appear to, if not necessarily turn good, at least stop being antagonistic after being reunited. That is except for Maliflua, who does try to get her revenge on Puss... but only has her butterfly flute left. The others all ignore her.
- "I Know You Are in There Somewhere" Fight / Let's You and Him Fight: Puss and Dulcinea have to fight each other again, thanks to the Piper. Their tendency to do this (which includes both episodes immediately before this one) is lampshaded:Puss: "For someone I like quite a lot, I find myself battling you much more than I would care to!"Dulcinea: "It's really becoming a thing with us, isn't it?"
- Malicious Misnaming: Puss has trouble getting Maliflua's name right, which causes her to suspect he's doing it on purpose.
- Mid-Season Upgrade: The Duchess is freed from the curse that prevented her from using magic, and unlocks her full magical potential.
- One Extra Member: There's a fourth of the Three Eldritch Sisters.
- Joke Weapon: When Maliflua loses her Cat-controlling flute, she pulls out her spare but is dismayed to find it can only control butterflies.
- Pass the Popcorn: During the big battle in the fourth tower, Artephius somehow ends up with a bag of popcorn - to the bemusement of Puss and Dulcinea.
- Ret-Gone: The Duchess is an Eldritch Sister, who was cursed by the others to have her memory completely removed, including from her and the sisters themselves. Even her spire in the Witches' lair has been rendered invisible as a result of the curse.
- The Reveal: The Duchess is the fourth Eldritch Sister, Maldonna.
