The Next Generation of Heroes!

Directed by: Douglas Lovelace

Written by: Jesse Porter

Realizing the town is defenseless without him, Puss decides to train to orphans to fight evil just like him.

Tropes:

  • All Part of the Show: El Moco kidnaps Puss in the middle of him pretending to be in trouble for the children to practice rescuing him. It's not until later that evening the kids realize the kidnapping was for real.
  • Call-Back:
    • Puss expands the Junior Puss Squad. Toby even still has his badge.
    • The Dragon gets fed up with the loud box in her cave and throws it away, setting El Moco free.
  • Captain Oblivious: Puss only teaches the orphans how to posture like a hero. Not once does it occur to him that actual combat ability might not come as naturally to others as it does to him.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: El Moco's minions subject Puss to torture by dangling a piece of string in front of him while he is tied up and unable to do anything about it.
  • I Thought Everyone Could Do That: The reason Puss only taught the kids posture and singing, as he thought they would be natural fighters just like him.
  • Serious Business: Puss realizes the town needs more defenders than just him when thieves attack while he is incapacitated... in the middle of his boots being polished at a point where interrupting would stain his boots.
  • Story Arc: Artephius mentions he could potentially be able to restore the barrier that protected San Lorenzo, a plot point that will drive the remaining episodes in season 2.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: El Moco chooses the three thieves too cowardly to stand up to him as his henchmen. Unsurprisingly, he ends up with the usual trio of incompetent, cowardly thieves that always fail to challenge Puss. Eventually, he has to do everything himself anyway because they're just that incapable of successful villainy.
  • Unishment: El Moco tries to torture Puss by locking him into the same box he was locked in. As Puss is both a cat and much smaller than El Moco, Puss enjoys being in the box and takes a nap.
