Pugsley comes to his parents after having money troubles, only to shock them with a horrifying announcement — he wants to get a job! Reluctantly, the Addams parents allow their son to go looking for employment.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Bait-and-Switch: When Morticia suggests they start Pugsley on an allowance of $100 a month, Uncle Fester repeats the amount dubiously. Morticia agrees...and ups it to $200 a month.
- Call-Back: Gomez' usually informed status as an attorney comes up again when he tells Henson he'll sue him for child labor and writes up an argument for the courts.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Mr. Henson gives Pugsley and Wednesday a series of large jobs to do for very little money (against the protests of his wife), claiming being scammed will make them wiser and saying he's doing them a favor. He winds up with a lot of property damage thanks to the Addamses' weird way of thinking.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Mr. Henson, who has come off second best against the Addamses multiple times during the series, comes to beg them not to sue and to ask them for repair materials so he can sell his house, and Gomez buys it for $5,000 more than Henson had intended to ask.
- Where Did We Go Wrong?: Morticia laments not knowing where she and Gomez failed after Pugsley tells them he wants a job.
