Recap / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 S 3 E 3 Space Invaders Part 3

Go To

The Turtles have made it to the Triceraton base to rescue Donny and run into Traximus and the Triceraton Rebellion there.

This episode provides examples of

  • All for Nothing: Zanramon learns that his invasion of the Earth was a big waste of time when he scans for positronic energy signatures (which Earth technology doesn't have, but the Fugitoid does) yields no results. Subverted when Honeycutt appears on Earth at the very end of the episode.
  • Call-Back: The Turtles use Zanramon's ship again to escape the Triceratons once more much to his anger.
Triceraton mook: Prime Leader. Uh, the Terrapin creatures have stolen your private cruiser.... again.
Zanramon: WHAAATTT! I just had it detailed. Destroy those creatures and tell Engineering to build me a new cruiser.
  • The Cavalry Arrives Late: Just as the invasion has ended, the Fugitoid arrives on Earth, having missed the whole event.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: As Don points out, there was no need to invade Earth in order to find the Fugitoid. Since the Fugitoid is made of technology far more advanced than anything human, they could just scan the planet for his unique (For Earth) energy signature. When Zanramon is told this, he is outraged that no one thought of it beforehand. (Granted, according to Mozar, positronic energy signature is pretty commonplace in the rest of the galaxy, but still...)
  • Dramatic Irony: Just as Donnie is finally able to convince the Triceratons that Professor Honeycutt isn’t on Earth anymore, at the end of the episode the latter does show up on Earth.
  • The End... Or Is It?: "Oh, dear, am I too late?"
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Parodied. When Mikey boasts about being the Battle Nexus champion, Raph is about to whack him again until Leo stops him... only to Dope Slap Mikey himself.
    Mikey: Et tu, Leo?
  • Fighting from the Inside: A variant occurs to Don while he's prisoner on board the Triceraton mother ship, resisting against borderline Mind Rape. He holds out for a while but needs help from Master Splinter to fend the assault off.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: The Turtles directed the Triceratons' guided weapons towards the Triceraton base that was holding New York hostage.
  • Hope Spot: Donnie proves to Zanramon that the Fugitoid is no longer on Earth, and the Triceratons choose to the planet, only for Professor Honeycutt to actually arrive on Earth.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Zanramon accuses Don that he might be tricking the Triceratons while his brothers try to mount a rescue. Don replies that the Turtles would never be found here only for them to be brought to Zanramon and Don.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Raph reminds Mikey not to keep going on about the fact that he's the Battle Nexus Champion.
  • Mind Rape: The Triceratons try to find out where the Fugitoid is by using a mind probe on Don.
  • Mugged for Disguise: Monzaram and the Turtles knock out the Triceraton guards and steal their uniforms to rescue Don.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Don says this word-for-word after realizing that his brothers did have a plan.
Don: Well, guys, if this is your idea of a rescue, it's pretty lame.
(Monza Ram looks around and then presses the controls freeing the Turtles)
    Leo: You were saying?
Don: (recognizes Monza Ram) Monza Ram! Ooookay. Open mouth, insert foot!
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Or rather, "What happened to Beijing?" The city isn't mentioned again after its initial theft, leaving its fate up in the air. This will eventually be resolved halfway through the season.
