- The episode title is a reference to the famous Star Trek episode The Trouble With Tribbles. The series is further shouted-out by Mikey's Captain Kirk impression as the Turtles load into their scavenged hovercar.
- Skewed Priorities: Even though they're being hunted by the Federation army, Mikey cares more about that he hasn’t eaten anything yet, much to the annoyance of Raph.
- What Does This Button Do?: Don warns Mikey about mashing the buttons in the hovercar's sidecar. Mikey hopes its "something really good." Cue the sidecar detaching and Mikey plummeting downwards.
