"Chill out, cool cat. The Ding Dong Daddy ain't cruisin' for a bruisin'. The prize is yours. All you gotta do is race me for it."
Ding Dong Daddy

Ding Dong Daddy, a hip hot-rodder, steals Robin's most prized possession, and forces him into a road race in order to get it back.

Tropes:

  • Alliterative Name: Ding Dong Daddy.
  • Badass Biker: Robin as usual, but here we learn that Red X is just as much one as Robin. Johnny Rancid also is unsurprisingly seen among the villain racers riding his signature bike.
  • Chronically Crashed Car: Cyborg's T-Car. By the end of the race, one axle and a pair of wheels are about all that's left of it. Cyborg casually says he'll build a new one, having done so several times by this point.
  • Cool Car: It turns out that many recurring villains have signature vehicles. Too bad Red X had to go and wreck all of them.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Red X barely gives the villains a chance to give him Oh, Crap! looks before completely demolishing all of their racing vehicles.
    • Raven and Starfire easily beat up the busload of wannabe villains when their disguise is revealed. Earlier they inflicted one on two villains in order to get said disguise.
  • De-power: It would have been easy for Raven and Starfire to win the race by flying. So Ding Dong Daddy disables their flight with some kind of energy ray.
  • The Dragon: DDD has gremlins at his disposal who then go after Beast Boy and Cyborg.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: To get on the villain bus, Starfire and Raven subdue a couple minor villains and take their costumes.
  • Enemy Mine: Robin saves Red X from falling on to the street during a high speed chase. In return, X takes down the enemy racers.
  • Exact Words:
Cyborg: Beast Boy, take the wheel!
  • Fat Bastard: Ding Dong Daddy, who serves as the episode's (literally big) Big Bad.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: Many of the Titans' recurring antagonists join the race.
  • Griping About Gremlins: DDD has a quartet of gremlin-like creatures who backs him up, either by repairing his hot rod or sabotaging the T-Car. They're a lot more adorable than common depictions of gremlins though.
  • Hammerspace: DDD's car come with weapons that when combined seemingly take up more volume than the car itself.
  • Homage: To Wacky Races.
  • Insane Troll Logic: Starfire, what made you think GIZMO is trustworthy and willing to help you out?
  • I Owe You My Life: Robin saves Red X from a fall. Red X pays back the debt by taking out the other racers.
Red X: [to Starfire and Raven] Tell Robin we're even... for now.
  • MacGuffin: Whatever's in Robin's case.
  • Makes Us Even: See I Owe You My Life.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Starfire blurts out to Gizmo that Ding Dong Daddy will give away Robin's prized possession to whoever wins the race, which leads to a small army of villains taking part.
  • "No Rules" Racing: Anything seems to go in Ding-Dong Daddy's race. The racers use whatever vehicles they want, take any route they want, and attack each other with abandon. Heck, most of them weren't even part of the race when it started - they just heard about it and joined in partway through.
  • One-Man Army: Once Enemy Mine sets in, Red X takes down all the other racers by himself, in less than a minute.
  • The Precious, Precious Car: The T-Car to Cyborg, as he refuses to let Beast Boy drive it in any scenario.
  • Save the Villain: Robin to Red X, prompting the latter to play hero once again.
  • Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: DDD shoots down Starfire and Raven for flying and tells them that's against the rules for car racing. (Yet for some reason he doesn't object to Dr. Light's hovercycle.) His gadgets obviously aren't for playing fair either.
  • Shout-Out: DDD, his car and his minions look like something Ed "Big Daddy" Roth might have designed.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Subverted. At first Red X sinisterly tells Robin that saving him was a mistake. Almost immediately however, he takes out the rest of the competition so Robin can focus on beating DDD.
  • The Unreveal: It's never revealed what Robin's "most prized possession" is. Epileptic Trees abound.
  • Villain Team-Up: Gizmo rallies all of the villains in the area to participate in the race for Robin's case. None of the minor villains impede each other whatsoever, and presumably would have shared the reward. Robin also accused Red X of helping DDD before being corrected.
  • Villains Want Mercy: A rare non-life-or-death version - once Robin actually triumphs, Ding Dong Daddy begs for a rematch before passing out.
  • "What's Inside?" Plot: Everyone wants to know what's in Robin's briefcase.
  • Where Does He Get All Those Wonderful Toys?: Ding Dong Daddy has a mobile pit stop at the ready in case his car gets damaged.
  • Wild Card:
Gizmo: Whose side are you on, barf-brain?!
    Red X: Mine!
  • X Called; They Want Their Y Back: DDD uses an insult with this format on Cyborg.
DDD: The Junkyard called, they want their scrap heap back!

Robin's briefcase

After the other Titans spend a whole episode helping Robin retrieve his stolen briefcase, he decides to let them in on the secret of what's inside. Just as he opens it, it cuts to credits.
