"Dog Daze" provides examples of:

  • Alliterative Title: Dog Daze.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: When Snaptrap finds a hypnotizing wheel in his box of Evil-O's, he uses it to hypnotize Dudley into acting crazy whenever he hears a bell, and only the sound of a second bell can undo the hypnotic spell.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Snaptrap hypnotizes Dudley into thinking he's a woodpecker, a princess, and a pirate. At the end of the episode, when Keswick falls for the hypnotism emails that Dudley fell for, he plays them all at once.
Keswick: I'm a pretty pirate princess who's late for the woodpecker ball, HA-GI-GI!
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef: The Chief is not good at baking pies. One of the ingredients in his cherry pie is mustard.
  • Here We Go Again!: At the end of the episode, Keswick tries to delete the hypnotizing email from Dudley's computer, only to fall under the hypnotic spell the way Dudley did.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Snaptrap hypnotizes Dudley into acting crazy so the Chief will fire him, and when his plan succeeds, he sets out to destroy Petropolis with his giant robot. This happens just before Kitty can unhypnotize Dudley, so she decides to hypnotize him into helping her defeat Snaptrap.
  • Humongous Mecha: Snaptrap uses a giant robot that resembles himself to destroy Petropolis, but his plan is foiled by Dudley. He is seen using it again near the end of the episode after his plan to get Dudley fired from T.U.F.F. succeeds.
  • Left the Background Music On: When Snaptrap hypnotizes Dudley, eerie hypnotic music plays in the background. It turned out to be being played by Larry, whom Snaptrap told to knock it off, as it was creeping him out.
  • Oh, Crap!: Kitty is shocked when she sees the hypnotizing D.O.O.M. email on Dudley's computer, realizing that Dudley was hypnotized by Snaptrap.
  • Removable Steering Wheel: Dudley pulls the steering wheel out of the T.U.F.F. Mobile as he hands it to Kitty while he goes inside Snaptrap's giant robot to battle Snaptrap. This results in Kitty crashing.
  • Rule of Three: Snaptrap hypnotizes Dudley three times. First, he hypnotizes him into being a woodpecker, resulting in him pecking the Chief's pies. Then, he hypnotizes him into being a princess, resulting in him riding a jackhammer that destroys T.U.F.F. HQ. Finally, he hypnotizes him into being a pirate, resulting in him destroying the carnival.
  • Shark Pool: Snaptrap has one in his giant robot. Naturally, Larry ends up its victim.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The Petropolis Aquarium has a giant fish bowl on top of it that resembles Cosmo and Wanda's fish bowl from The Fairly OddParents!, another Nicktoon created by Butch Hartman.
    • Larry hates the new name that Snaptrap gave him, "Professor Pink".
    • The Chief is wearing an apron that says "Top Chief." This apron's font is in the same style as the television show Top Chef, complete with a knife between the two words.
  • Tempting Fate: After Dudley defeats Snaptrap and his henchmen, he uses Snaptrap's giant robot to pick up a bottle cap, having mistaken it for a nickel. When he tosses the bottle cap, the Chief is stopped at a red light in his new car. He says he probably should have sprung for bottle cap insurance, but finds the odds of a bottle cap destroying his car slim to none. Just afterwards, the bottle cap falls on him and his car.
  • "Test Your Strength" Game: One is present at the carnival. After Dudley destroys the carnival, he rings the bell on the game, which snaps him out of his trance.
  • Time-Passage Beard: After Dudley gets fired from T.U.F.F., Kitty discovers the hypnotic email on his computer. When Kitty next finds Dudley, he has a beard. Kitty points out that Dudley has only been gone for 20 minutes and is in a crowded coffee shop, then asks him if his beard is real. Dudley tells her that his beard is fake but came with his latte.
  • Trap Door: Snaptrap sends Larry down one in his giant robot when the latter complains about his new name.
  • Wingding Eyes: When Dudley destroys Snaptrap's giant robot, its eyes turn into Xs and then GAME OVER.

"Internal Affairs" provides examples of:

  • Artificial Limb: Early in the episode, the Chief reveals to Dudley that he has a bionic foot. Near the end, Dudley convinces him to use said foot to kick the plug on the Chameleon's transformation suit to disconnect said suit and expose the Chameleon for the impostor that he is.
  • Eating the Enemy: Dudley gets himself shrunk by messing with Keswick's Shrink Ray. At the same time, he and the Chief, a flea, have to stop the Chameleon, who has used his form-shifting suit to disguise himself as General Warhog so he can infiltrate the government in order to launch a missile at T.U.F.F Headquarters. Dudley and the Chief go to stop him, only to get quickly eaten up. After a "Fantastic Voyage" Plot, the two escape. The Chameleon tries to eat them again, but the Chief anticipates this, grabs his tongue, and slams him around into submission.
  • Endangering News Broadcast: The Interactive Narrator from the old news reel documentary about the Chief gave away his name, which is supposed to be secret. Not only did the narrator do it two more times, but also gave away the Chief's complete address. In response, the Chief stepped out of shower and blasted the narrator.
  • False Teeth Tomfoolery:
    • The Chief is revealed to wear dentures in this episode, which he accidentally launches onto Dudley when he falls alseep.
    • Near the end of the episode, General Warhog is also revealed to have false teeth, and he spits them out on a shrunken Dudley when he falls asleep.
  • "Fantastic Voyage" Plot: The Chameleon disguises himself as General Warhog after capturing the real General to infiltrate the government and launch a missile at T.U.F.F. HQ. Dudley and the Chief try to stop him, but get eaten. Since the Chameleon's transformation suit is hardwired into his brain, Dudley and the Chief have to travel to the brain and disconnect the suit to expose the Chameleon as the fake he is before the missile gets launched.
  • Food as Bribe: Dudley manages to talk the Chief into rescuing the General with him by sharing his big cookie with him.
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: After the Chameleon swallows a spider to get it to eat Dudley and the Chief, the Chief pulls out a grappling hook and shoots it up the Chameleon's throat so he and Dudley can escape from the spider and make their way to the Chameleon's brain.
  • Human Hammer-Throw: Dudley does this to the Chief so that the Chief will be able to reach the plug to the Chameleon's suit. Then, he can kick it and disconnect the suit.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: Dudley messes with Keswick's shrink ray, causing him to be shrunk to minuscule size like the Chief.
  • Metronomic Man Mashing: The Chief does this to the Chameleon after the former escapes from the latter's body and the latter tries to eat him again.
  • Mood-Swinger: As Dudley and the Chief try to disconnect the Chameleon's suit from his brain, they bounce on the brain, causing the Chameleon to involuntarily skip, then weep uncontrollably and suddenly crave pickles.
  • "No Talking or Phones" Warning: At the movie theater, a PSA shows up before the movie Kitty and Keswick are about to watch, telling them to turn off all wrist coms and butter rays. This results in Dudley's message being forwarded to voicemail when he tries to call Kitty for backup.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: The Chief is really strong for someone so small, as proven when he defeats the Chameleon near the end of the episode.
  • Retired Badass: The Chief was once T.U.F.F.'s top agent and an amazing fighter. In this episode, he comes out of retirement to help Dudley deal with the Chameleon. While things don't work out well at first, Dudley manages to give him a pep talk and he shows he's still got it by beating up the Chameleon.
  • The Reveal: The Chief's real name is revealed to be Herbert Dumbrowski in an old news reel documentary that plays at the beginning of this episode.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: After Dudley and the Chief are swallowed by the Chameleon, Dudley asks the Chief what he would have done in his youth. The Chief says he'd use his nunchucks to make the Chameleon upchuck. Before he pulls out his nunchucks, he pulls out some mukluks, his toy duck, and some corn he needs to shuck.
  • Senior Sleep-Cycle: To prove a point that the Chief was getting old, this episode's Running Gag has him falling asleep.
  • Shrink Ray: At the beginning of this episode, Dudley uses Keswick's shrink ray on himself to shrink himself to the Chief's size so the cookie he eats will be a giant one. Dudley stays flea-sized until the end of the episode, where Keswick appears to have returned him to his normal size with his enlarging ray, but accidentally turns him into a giant three-headed fire-breathing monster due to mixing up his up his enlarging ray with his monster ray.
  • Shout-Out: The movie that Kitty and Keswick watch at the theater is called The Lizard of Oz.
  • Skewed Priorities: When General Warhog calls the Chief to tell him that he's been captured by the Chameleon and can't make it to poker night, the Chief is outraged, because it was the General's turn to bring the pizza bagels.
  • Spiders Are Scary: When the Chief tries to get the Chameleon to throw him and Dudley up so they can escape, the Chameleon eats a spider whole so the spider can eat them. Since he is disguised as the General as this happens, this freaks out the soldiers who witness this.
  • Swallowed a Fly: When Dudley rides in the Chief's convertible, he asks the Chief how he can get bugs in his teeth when he's so small. The Chief tells him they're not bugs, they're amoebas.
  • Visual Pun: When Dudley and The Chief arrive in a dark area near The Chameleon's heart, Dudley lights up a torch right underneath it, giving The Chameleon literal heartburn.
  • You Must Be This Tall to Ride: Discussed; when the Chief wakes up from his nap, he finds Dudley tiny, and is happy that he is now tall enough to ride on the roller coaster with the big kids, only to remember that he isn't bigger and that Dudley just shrank himself. He does this again after he and Dudley defeat the Chameleon.
