Recap / Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go S 3 E 4

Go To

Whilst hunting down the Skeleton King Worm, the team notices an anomaly with the Super Robot's tracking system. Upon finding nothing erroneous, to their befuddlement, they are suddenly captured by a computerized being allegedly of a dead species of mechanical life. Virused and seeking to destroy organic life, the computer attempts to assimilate Antauri whilst discarding the rest of the team, forcing them to rely on an unexpected member...

This episode provides examples of:

  • And Show It to You: After blowing up the giant robot's head and tearing off its right arm, the Super Robot then digs its hand into its chest and tears out its pumping mechanism. This is the closest thing we get to a heart in the show.
  • Boom, Headshot!: How the Super Robot manages to finish off the giant one.
  • The Bus Came Back: After being absent for a few episodes, TV Monster returns... and gets upgraded into the Skeleton King Droid.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: Just when the robot in the trash heap gets pulled towards the spinning fan, the scene cuts to the Monkey Team watching in horror. Then the shredded robot gets ejected out of the Probe's ship, with its head floating through space shouting "I'm free!"
  • Humongous Mecha: The giant robot that comes to fight the Super Robot.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Sprx is quick to dismiss the idea of the Super Robot being able to think for itself, saying "Machines cannot have a soul." And he says this to Antauri.
  • Interrupted Declaration of Love: When it seems like the Probe is about to kill the Monkey Team, Sprx looks at Nova and is about to confess his feelings for her since he believes that this is his last chance to do it. Cue the Super Robot saving them at the last minute.
Sprx: Gibson, I wanna take back all the mean things I ever said about ya! Well, most of 'em. (turns to Nova) A-A-And Nova… Nova?
    Nova: Yeah, Sprx?
    Sprx: (sweating) I… I just have to say… I…
  • It Can Think: It turns out that the Super Robot is autonomous and can operate independently.
  • Last of His Kind: The Probe claims to be this, as its kind was wiped out by the Skeleton King Worm.
  • Never My Fault: At the end of the episode Sprx says that Gibson was wrong for saying machines don't have souls, when he was the one who said it. Subverted when with some gentle ribbing from Antauri, Sprx admits that it's okay to be wrong "once in a while".
  • Robotic Reveal: Antauri is revealed to be fully mechanical.
  • Wham Episode: The Super Robot is revealed to be sentient, Antauri's new body is fully mechanical, and TV Monster has now become the Skeleton King Droid, a powerful machine hellbent on destroying the Hyperforce.
