Sender: John, "and some other people who aren't scam artists"
Strong Bad: Initiate email check in five, four, three, two, one.
Strong Bad gets a rather transparent phishing email from "John and some other people who aren't scam artists" trying to get his credit card info. Strong Bad declares he knows just what to do: he edits it to be a message to Homestar Runner from "Superfied Credit Union" and forwards it to Homestar, who falls for it hook, line, and sinker.
Strong Bad: (laughing heartily) That was too easy, man! Well, it looks like Homestar is about to make a little contribution to the Lots of Awesome Stuff for Strong Bad Fund.
Strong Bad promptly goes on a shopping spree on "The Coolest Stuff Ever", picking himself up a spaceship, some killer robots, and other cool (and very expensive) things.
Tropes:
- Early-Installment Weirdness: The Tandy has a mouse in this email only, whereas in a later email, Strong Bad doesn't even recognize a computer mouse—seeing The Cheat using an iMac, he thinks The Cheat is "rubbing that bar of soap against the table".
- Failed a Spot Check: Strong Bad doesn't notice that Homestar's credit card's expiration is "13/02".note
- 555: Homestar's number is not, and cannot be, a real credit card number, at least until some financial institution starts using "567511[61]" as its ID. It also has an invalid expiration date.
- Most Definitely Not a Villain/Suspiciously Specific Denial: "John, and some other people who aren't scam artists". It's so suspicious that even Strong Bad changes it to something more plausible before forwarding it to Homestar.
- Voiceover Letter: Homestar's reply email fades from Strong Bad reading it out loud to Homestar narrating it.
Strong Bad: (doing his shopping) Gimme one of these... (clicks "spaceship") A couple of these... (clicks "killer robot" twice) Oh, everybody needs one of these... (clicks "rocket launcher") Oh, this thing, I gotta have that... (clicks "robotic dog/shark")
