Steven and Peridot show Lapis video chatting.

Tropes:

  • Batter Up!: Lapis prepares to smash the tablet with a bat to "free" Steven.
  • Bland-Name Product: Connie is evidently a big fan of historical strategy games, as her computer has icons for Empires & Eras II, Colonization V, and Conqueror Kings II. There are also icons on the desktop that are Bland Name versions of Google Chrome and Steam.
  • Call-Back: Lapis assumes Steven is trapped in a device and tries to "free" him like how he freed her. She tries to find his gem on the tablet.
  • Cats Are Mean: Lion notices the laptop on the table, sniffs it, and knocks it to the ground.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Lapis sees Steven through video phone on a tablet and assumes he's been trapped in the device like she was in the mirror.
  • Continuity Nod: The object Lapis grabs to break the tablet is a bat because "Hit the Diamond" showed the barn has baseball equipment lying around.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • Peridot explains to Steven how she got wi-fi for the barn, with much of her story missing due to connection issues. She finishes with, "and now the wi-fi works perfectly!"
    • After Lion breaks Connie's laptop, Lapis says Steven should be more careful with other people's stuff. She's still holding the bat she planned to use on the tablet.
  • In-Universe Camera: The episode is the desktop of Connie's laptop showing video from two camera, one in the laptop itself and the other on Peridot's tablet. The former is disconnected when Lion damages the laptop, yet somehow the display still shows Connie's desktop.
  • Jackhammered Conversation: Peridot evidently went on a grand adventure to get wi-fi for the barn, but connection issues disrupt parts of her story.
Peridot: So, I had to go through— [glitches] So, there I was, face to face with one of those big— [glitches] —running for my life with nothing but a— [glitches] And then it bit me! [glitches] And now the Wi-Fi works perfectly.
  • MacGyvering: Peridot makes a wi-fi receiver out of a satellite dish mounted on a lawnmower. The lawnmower appears to move around autonomously to get the best signal possible.
  • Mundane Object Amazement: Peridot is amazed at Steven showing an optical illusion that makes a pencil look like it's bending like rubber.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Lapis when she sees Steven on the screen and assumes he's trapped in it the way she was trapped.
    • Peridot and Steven when Lapis tries to destroy Peridot's tablet to "free" Steven.
    • Steven when Lion destroys Connie's laptop.
  • "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Lapis offers one when Peridot shouts at her to put the bat down once Lapis knows Steven is okay.
  • Sudden Anatomy: When Lion moves very close to the camera, his whiskers become visible.
  • Trauma Button: Lapis is triggered when she thinks Steven is trapped in the tablet screen, and she would have smashed the tablet if Steven didn't warp to the barn to show her that he's fine.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Lion destroys Connie's laptop because it happens to be there.
  • Video Call Fail: Peridot has a video call with Steven to brag about being able to get Internet access at the old barn. First, she forgets to turn the volume up so she can hear Steven. Next, while Peridot is explaining how she got the connection working, the feed starts glitching, leading to a Jackhammered Conversation where all we get is that Peridot got chased and bitten by a wild animal of some kind. Of course, the connection clears up in time for Peridot to obliviously brag "And now the wi-fi works perfectly!"
