A new hero is in town, full of witticisms and a Hurricane of Puns
Tropes include:
- Brick Joke: The school is preparing for the homecoming dance. Static then finds a box of decorations during his first heroic spree, and delivers it to the crew in charge of homecoming.
- Costume-Test Montage: Virgil has an entire closet through which he can mix and match outfits.
- Deadpan Snarker: Richie and Virgil have their moments, especially when talking on the phone about Virgil being invited to join a gang.
- Incoming Ham: Courtesy of F-Stop, "HEY, FRIEDA!"
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Virgil suffers one courtesy of F-Stop's gang cornering him in an alley.
- Too Dumb to Live: Virgil heckling Francis, a bully and a gang leader when the latter tries to ask out Frieda in an aggressive way.
- Wham Shot: When Virgil is given a mysterious bundle by Wade on the night of the Big Bang, he unwraps it to find a gun. This is the shock Virgil needs to realize he's in over his head and needs to get out of Dodge.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Wade never appears again in the series. It's unknown what kind of metahuman he turned into, or how he feels about Static.
- What You Are in the Dark: On the night of the fateful Big Bang, Virgil found himself at a crossroads between engaging in the gang fight with Wade and getting out of dodge while he had the chance. A more reckless teenager would've chosen to take the gun and join the fight for a little excitement. But Virgil wisely throws the gun he was given into the water and tries to escape with his life. His choice leaves it so that, outside of gaining super powers, he wakes up safe in his bed with his father none the wiser.
