- Ambiguous Situation: To say Melinda gives off mixed signals would be an understatement. On one hand, she's far more approachable than the rest of her family, and has no problems forming a friendship with a middle-class mother. On the other hand, her behavior is...abnormal once the topic of Damian is brought up.
- Dark Secret: Played for laughs. When Anya reveals that Yor and Melinda have become friends, Damian frantically asks if anything was shared about him: in doing so, he recalls some of his moments of great shame. Anya, of course, hears all of it, and makes a note to remember them for gossip.
- Twist Ending: Chapter 65 plays out as a lighthearted, heartwarming chapter involving Yor meeting a friendly socialite who invites her on an outing with fellow mothers. The woman is surprisingly approachable, giving Yor some much needed reassurance and interaction with women who aren't...well, her coworkers. But then the topic of school comes up: the woman is revealed to be none other than Melinda Desmond, Damian's mother. Her moments in the next chapter have a decidedly foreboding undertone.
