Blood is Thicker Than Grease

Original air date: February 21, 2024 (Nicktoons)

Plankton's parents have come to town to follow in his footsteps and open up their own restaurant. However, the new Spud Bucket ends up putting him and Krabs out of business, forcing Plankton to take it down himself.

"Blood is Thicker Than Grease" contains examples of:

  • Accent Upon The Wrong Syllable: Plankton's dad speaks with a hillfolk accent, such as pronouncing "fortunate" as "for-chu-NATE" and "vehicle" as "vee-HIC-le".
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Plankton finally gets the formula, but since this happens at a time when the Krusty Krab is out of business because there's no demand for Krabby Patties. Karen makes him realize that the formula, and thus his revenge plans, are basically pointless now.
Plankton: Yes! With this worthless formula, I can take over the world!
Karen: Does that make your plan for world domination worthless too?
Plankton: Wait a minute. Oh, no. Karen, take me home.
  • Glad I Thought of It: A variant. When Karen gives Plankton a good idea for one of his plans, he responds, "Karen, you're a genius! And since I built you, that makes me a double genius!"
  • In Name Only: Despite being advertised and intended as a Sequel Episode to "Plankton's Army", this episode really has nothing to do with that one. The only similarity is the brief return of Plankton's cousins, but the episode mainly focuses on his parents, who are new One Shot Characters.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Plankton actually liked working for the Spud Bucket, a surprisingly stable business that managed to leave the Krusty Krab in the dust. But when he adds his own chum to the food, the customers all abandon it and the restaurant is shut down.
  • One-Note Cook: The only thing Plankton's relatives seem to be able to cook is potatoes in various forms.
  • Sanity Slippage: When SpongeBob can't cook because the restaurant is empty, he's seen chewing on tables, rolling around the floor, and mumbling "order up" to himself.
  • Springtime for Hitler: Plankton's attempts at sabotage don't turn out like he hoped and actually benefit the Spud Bucket.
    • Plankton unleashes Patrick on the Spud Bucket to eat everyone's food. However, Plankton's parents just decide to give him a job there since he likes it so much.
    • Plankton throws a grenade into a shipment of potatoes. This just results in them exploding into French fries, which taste even better than the usual ones.
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: All Krabs and SpongeBob had to do to get rid of the Spud Bucket was tell Plankton that there's no use in stealing the formula if nobody wants Krabby Patties. They spend the rest of the episode sitting back and watching Plankton frustrate himself by trying to take down the Spud Bucket, which eventually goes under once Plankton starts working there.

Don't Make Me Laugh

Original air date: February 12, 2024

When SpongeBob's funny bone gets stuck, it causes him to laugh uncontrollably, annoying everyone around him.

  • Continuity Nod: This is the second time SpongeBob gets a "Wanted!" Poster of himself labeling him as a maniac.
  • Facial Horror: Downplayed. SpongeBob laughs so much that his mouth takes over his entire face.
  • Funny Background Event: Before SpongeBob goes to the cemetary, a "Wanted!" Poster of SpongeBob calling him a "laughing maniac" can be seen on a wall.
  • Innocently Insensitive: SpongeBob laughing during inappropriate moments cause him to come off this way such as accidentally offending Squidward and during a funeral.

Don't Make Me Laugh

SpongeBob's constant laughing at a movie annoys everyone in the theater, even the characters in the movie, who are somehow aware of it and tell him to stop.

How well does it match the trope?
