My Friend Patty

Original air date: 7/18/2023 (produced in 2022)

After Sandy brings a Krabby Patty to life, SpongeBob becomes friends with it only to discover that the Krabby Patty's only desire is to be eaten.

"My Friend Patty" contains examples of:

  • Big Ball of Violence: One forms between SpongeBob, Sandy, and all the customers who want to eat the krabby patty.
  • Cover Innocent Eyes and Ears: SpongeBob covers the krabby patty's eyes to keep him from seeing the worm and its owner zapped by jellyfish.
  • Exorcist Head: The Krabby Patty turns his top bun all the way around when he spots Plankton before trying to get the latter to eat him.
  • Foreshadowing: When the krabby patty is in the mouth of the Goofy Goober mascot, the latter is clearly struggling to get it out of his mouth, hinting the patty's desire to be eaten.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: SpongeBob declares that he's never going back to Goofy Goober's, only to abruptly pop back in and cheerfully tell Goofy Goober, "Okay, see you tomorrow!"
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: SpongeBob lets out a high-pitched scream when he sees the Krabby Patty about to be eaten by a worm.
  • Terrible Interviewees Montage: Occurs when SpongeBob tries to help the Krabby Patty find the perfect person to eat him. Rejected candidates include Bubble Bass for his bad breath, Slappy who has bugs in his mouth, Old Man Walker whose taste buds are literally dead, and a little girl with braces.
  • Unfulfilled Purpose Misery: In a twist, the Krabby Patty actually wants to be eaten, seeing it as his life's purpose, and is very unamused with SpongeBob's attempts to save him. He gets his wish at the end of the episode when he is eaten by Gary.
  • Unusual Euphemism: The Krabby Patty uses burger-based exclamations like "Well, double my cheese!" and "Aw, pickle chips!".
  • Wham Line: After the visit to Goofy Goober's, the trajectory of the episode changes. Prior, we had been led to believe everyone happened to be selfishly trying to eat the Krabby Patty; here, it turns out it actively wanted to be eaten.
SpongeBob: Ohhh... I'm sorry everyone keeps trying to eat you, Krabby Patty. You must be having the worst day of your life.
Krabby Patty: Oh, I've gotta say, it hasn't been what I thought. No matter how many times I jump in someone's mouth, they still won't swallow me.
SpongeBob: (Beat) WAIT! You were jumping into their mouths on purpose!?
  • You Need a Breath Mint: The Krabby Patty rejects being eaten by Bubble Bass due to his bad breath.

FUN-Believable

Original air date: 7/19/2023 (produced in 2022)

Rube hosts his own show where he interviews people around town and asks them to show off their unique talents.

"FUN-Believable" contains examples of:

  • Bizarre Taste in Food: According to Squidward, Rube likes to put mustard in his milkshakes.
  • Bookends: Squidward's show takes up both the beginning and ending of the episode.
  • Canon Immigrant: Perch's great grandmother first appeared in the The Patrick Star Show episode "The Drooling Fool". Here, she's in a main-series episode.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode focuses on Rube interviewing various citizens around Bikini Bottom. SpongeBob and Patrick only show up for a few scenes.
  • Died on Their Birthday: Perch's great grandmother suddenly turns into dust on her 115th birthday at the end of the episode.
  • Dinner Deformation: Sandy's cheeks expand when stuffed with a world-record-breaking amount of nuts. She accidentally swallows them all, leaving her shaped like a giant sack of nuts. Rube also get swallowed at the same time and his body can be seen through Sandy's stomach.
  • End-of-Episode Silliness: Rube signs off, only for SpongeBob and Patrick to show off a trick they've learned: spelling out "Funbelievable!" with their bodies. It turns out Squidward is watching the episode, he calls it horrible, then shuts it off.
  • Episode Tagline: SpongeBob, Patrick, and Rube say "funbelievable" throughout the episode. It even turns out that the former two's special trick to show Rube is morphing into the letters that make up the word.
  • Fake-Out Opening: The episode begins with Squidward doing a show about people that annoy him. Not even a minute in, it's canceled and replaced with Rube's much more lighthearted show.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: In just a week, Squidward has beef with 47 different people. He plans to go through each in detail until his show is cut off and replaced with Rube's.
  • Noodle Incident: Squidward doesn't get to share exactly what SpongeBob did to aggravate him this week.
  • Overly Long Gag: SpongeBob and Patrick running away, whispering, looking back, and whispering again, then coming to Rube only to run back. It takes 20 seconds.
  • Parasol Parachute: Perch jumps out of a helicopter and tries using an umbrella to slow down. It turns inside-out and he falls.
  • Random Events Plot: Rube going around town and talking to people makes up much of the plot here.
  • Surprisingly Sudden Death: Perch's great grandmother survives a helicopter fight completely unharmed. As she's being wheeled away by Perch, she suddenly evaporates into dust.
  • Traced Artwork: All the images of Rube used as scene transitions are traced from frames in his debut appearance, "No Pictures Please".
  • Waxing Lyrical: During the helicopter fight against Perch's great grandmother, Baby Prunes yells "Hey, you! Get off of my cloud!"
