Plankton's Old Chum

Original air date: 11/30/2019 (produced in 2018)

Plankton's got a batch of rotten chum that he needs to dispose of, and he runs into SpongeBob, whose curiosity leads Plankton to lie that he's hiding gifts for a holiday called Chum Day.

"Plankton's Old Chum" contains examples of:

  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Plankton is forced to eat all the chum he left around town.
  • Fat Slob: Plankton becomes one several days later after he finishes eating all the chum.
  • Fictional Holiday: Plankton makes up Chum Day as a way to trick SpongeBob into helping him hide it. It later becomes a real holiday in Bikini Bottom.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: After hiding all the chum, Plankton is happy he didn't receive any "chumuppance". He flinches as if expecting to be punished, but nothing happens. When looks that he'll scape unpunished, in the end when after announcing that he created Chum Day, he is forced to eat all the chum as punishment.
  • Gave Up Too Soon: Plankton tosses a coin into a wishing well full of chum, wishing it was empty so he can dump more chum into it. When it doesn't work, he walks away, only for the chum inside to magically disappear.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The scene where SpongeBob explains the meaning of Chum Day is a reference to A Charlie Brown Christmas.
    • When Squidward asks Morty what day it is, it is a reference to Ebenezer Scrooge asking the boy what day it is in A Christmas Carol.

Stormy Weather

Original air date: 6/22/2019 (produced in 2018)

SpongeBob befriends an estranged storm cloud named Drizzle. However, local weatherman Gale Doppler has never gotten a forecast wrong, and wants to capture Drizzle for himself.

"Stormy Weather" contains examples of:

  • A God Am I: After Drizzle goes inside weather man, Gale Doppler, and inflates him to the size of a large storm cloud, he enthusiastically announces that he's become the weather. He, however, quickly realizes that it's not all that great when he keeps getting zapped by lightning.
  • Accidental Misnaming: The autograph SpongeBob has from Gale Doppler is written to "SpongeBill".
  • Affably Evil: Gale Doppler tries to control and destroy Drizzle while acting like an enthusiastic weather man the entire time.
  • All Animals Are Dogs: Drizzle the storm cloud acts more like an excited puppy.
  • Broken Pedestal: Early in the episode, SpongeBob is a fan of weather man, Gale Doppler. But after the latter tries to capture Drizzle and later tries to kill him, it's easy to assume that SpongeBob is no longer a fan.
  • Shout-Out: When Drizzle follows SpongeBob from above and casts a shadow, SpongeBob muses "Tut, tut, it looks like rain".
  • Someone to Remember Him By: Before Drizzle leaves, he takes off a small piece of cloud from his body and gives it to SpongeBob, who names it "Drizzle Jr."
  • Toilet Humor: Bikini Bottom apparently has a weird plunger-on-a-pogo-stick contraption that's used to treat constipation, called the Consti-Plunger 5000. It's billboard Tagline is "Let it flow", while also showing a fish, feeling... relieved in front of a body of water...
  • That Cloud Looks Like...: Drizzle turns himself into various shapes for SpongeBob to (incorrectly) guess.
  • Villain Has a Point: Gale Doppler isn't wrong about Drizzle being a danger to the public.
