Plankton decides to close the Chum Bucket and move to a new town, but Mr. Krabs still suspects he is up to something.

"Plankton Retires" contains examples of:

  • Big Ball of Violence: Happens between Mr. Krabs, Plankton and SpongeBob that Squidward and the customers get swept up in. SpongeBob answers the phone on top of the cloud.
    SpongeBob: Hello? Krusty Krab, may I take your order? No, Mr. Krabs is unable to come to the phone right now. He's trapped under a dust cloud brawl. Yeah, he'll have to call you back.
  • Continuity Nod: This isn't the first time Plankton tried to trick Mr. Krabs into thinking that he was retiring.
  • Delayed "Oh, Crap!": SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs' reaction when Plankton reveals himself to be a robotic duplicate.
  • Disguised in Drag: Mr. Krabs disguises himself as an old lady when he and SpongeBob spy on Plankton.
  • Failure Montage: The start of the episode depicts various failed attempts by Plankton to steal the formula, which always end with him suffering Amusing Injuries and Mr. Krabs coming out on top.

Trident Trouble

SpongeBob accidentally picks up King Neptune's magic trident, leading to chaos around Bikini Bottom.

"Trident Trouble" contains examples of:

  • Alliterative Title: Trident Trouble
  • And I Must Scream: While holding the trident, SpongeBob wishes that Mr. Krabs wouldn't care about money so much. The trident then makes Mr. Krabs give his money to people, all while he screams that he can't stop.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: SpongeBob initially activates the trident by wishing for things to help him and others. It quickly spirals out of control.
  • Big "NO!": Done by Mr. Krabs when the killer Krabby Patties chase the customers out of the Krusty Krab.
  • Brain Freeze: Patrick gets one while eating ice-cream.
  • Glass Cannon: King Neptune is powerless without his trident.
  • Greek Chorus: One is featured in the episode, even calling themselves as such.
  • Iris Out: Like its sister episode.
  • It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: When the ice cream truck crashes, Patrick declares it the "best day ever!".
  • Mama Bear: After King Neptune defeats a kraken, it later returns with its mother who is angry at King Neptune for what he did to her son.
