While Peter continues to search for answers about his parents in Moscow, he learns of the Kingpin's plan to find a doomsday weapon that he intents use for world domination. However, the Kingpin is not the only one who is looking for the weapon for that purpose.


This episode provides examples of:

  • Aborted Arc: At the end of the episode after learning his parents were not really traitors to America, Peter vows to make the world know the truth as well. However, he never fulfils this vow in the remaining episodes of the season.
  • Artistic Licence – History: Peter mentions in this episode that television was released in 1945, when in the real world, television was unveiled in America at the 1939 New York's World Fair.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The group that known as the Six Forgotten Warriors that Peter was told by Illyena and Robbie in this episode.
  • Dirty Cop: The Red Skull's son, Rhienholdt, was posing as the chief of police in Moscow, Komisar Kragov, to hide his true intentions of looking for the weapon his father created.
  • Dramatic Irony: As the Kingpin and the Insidious Six are in Russia trying to get the information about the Doomsday weapon from Illyena, Peter unknowingly leads her to reveal the clue to find it, a box that his parents had given to Dr. Groitzig before they died, something that the Kingpin lampshades to Spider-Man.
  • Fake Defector: Dr. Groitzig's daughter, Illyena, reveals that Peter's parents, Richard and Mary, were only pretending to be traitors to America, but unfortunately the KGB caught on to them.
  • Friend on the Force: Detective Boris Pushkin, a Moscow police officer who is also a friend of Robbie's from when the latter worked for a wire service in Moscow years before. Boris even mentions how Robbie once saved his life. He gives Robbie and Peter the information they need unofficially.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: When the Wild Pack reveals to the Kingpin and the Insidious Six that they are at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the Kingpin and his men decide not continue the fight against the Wild Pack and Spider-Man as the location is too dangerous due to still being contaminated with radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl Disaster.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: When the Kingpin reveals his plans to find the the Doomdsay Device that is hidden in New York and use it for World Domination, like how the Red Skull intended, to Spider-Man, the latter tells the Kingpin how he sounds like a Saturday morning cartoon villain.
  • The Mole: One of the Insidious Six is revealed to be a traitor who is helping the Red Skull's son Rhienholdt and the Wild Pack. Silver Sabke does not reveal to the Kingpin which of them it is.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: While trying to get information about his parents from Illyena, Peter unknowingly causes her to reveal the clue about finding the Doomday weapon to the Chameleon, who is impersonating her husband, Karl, who brings it to the Kingpin.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: As The Kingpin believes Spider-Man will no longer be a threat to him soon when the Insidious Six have captured the letter, he reveals his plans to find the doomsday weapon, causing Spider-Man two do what he can to stop him from doing so.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: While the Kingpin and his men get the box that contains information on the doomsday device and the Red Skull’s son Rhienholdt escapes with Mr. Lentz and Dr. Groitzig, Peter still learns that his parents were never traitors to their country and reveals this to Aunt May much to her relief, he then makes a promise to make sure the world finds out the truth about his parents.
  • Tempting Fate: When Spider-Man thinks about how he made a big mistake accidentally helping the Kingpin get what he needs to find the Doomsday weapon, he then asks in his head how things could get worse. He then gets his answer when the Kingpin attempts to unmask him. Luckily, Silver Sable and the Wild Pack unintentionally stop him from doing so.
