Erm, the Boss Finds Love? contains examples of...

  • Adam Westing: "Daniel the Demon Slayer" is Doug Walker using his Nostalgia Critic personality to play a demon hunter.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Brittney wakes up in the midst of Pim and Charlie's attempt to kill her, asking what they're doing and becoming upset when they say she's evil and trying to steal Mr. Boss' soul for Satan. Charlie asks if they were wrong about her, but she clarifies that everything they said is correct, she's just upset by how rude they're being while confronting her about it.
Britney: No I did do all of that, but you didn't have to be so nasty about it!
  • Been There, Shaped History: The Boss is only Brittney's latest conquest. Her previous ones include Charlemagne, NapolĂ©on Bonaparte, and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
  • Brick Joke: When Brittney takes over the Smiling Friends, a controlled Mr. Boss mentions that Glep is already working on her black rose garden, a sign that Pim and Charlie take as something being seriously wrong because Glep hates gardening. Later, Brittney dies by falling onto said rose garden as Glep is tending it, with Glep spitting on her corpse for making him do so.
  • Call-Back: Brittney melts into a puddle when she dies, same as fellow Bitch in Sheep's Clothing Mip.
  • Celebrity Cameo: Doug Walker of all people gives advice on how to slay demons, even using The Nostalgia Critic's standard greeting.
Daniel: HELLOOO~ I'm Daniel the Demon Slayer. I slay demons so YOU don't have to!
  • Character Death: Brittney dies by falling onto the thorn bushes in her garden, which impale her.
  • Con Man: A man Charlie meets at Mr. Boss' wedding named Jombo sells him a knife for 600$. It's ambiguous whether he was upfront about it being fake, given how drunk Charlie was when he bought it, but regardless Jombo completely erased every trace of himself on social media before fleeing to New Jersey, so Charlie's out of luck on a refund.
  • Continuity Nod: As seen in The Stinger, Hell is still fully ignited from when Charlie helped cheer up Satan. The devil himself also returns for a cameo, with Brittney being his daughter.
  • Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: The Stinger has Mr. Boss arguing with Satan over where the Property Line to his quarter of Hell lies, with Mr. Boss outright calling Satan's argument "f***ing stupid!", causing Satan to leave in frustration.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Charlie calls Mr. Boss out on his Screamer Prank, reminding him and Pim that he has a heart condition.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: When Charlie and Pim try to stab Brittney in her sleep, there is a lot of dramatic buildup only for the knife to not work since it was a fake one.
  • Foreshadowing: The officiant at the wedding mentions that Brittney's father is unable to attend. Why? Well, we later learn he's Satan, and thus can't leave Hell.
  • Halloween Episode: Revealed at the very end to be one, even though the episode debuted in May.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Charlie laughs at both Pim and Allan when they get jumpscared by Brittney and the animatronic respectively, but is very upset when the Boss jumpscares him, and shames both the Boss and Pim for messing with his heart.
  • Jump Scare: Thrice. The first time when Brittney's face is revealed, the second time when the android in Charlie's home screams at Allan, and the third time when the Boss pranks Charlie.
  • Karma Houdini: Jombo manages to scam Charlie into blowing $800 on what turns out to be a fake sacrificial dagger, then deletes all his social media information and flees to New Jersey.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Brittney is set up to be this, until she turns around...
  • Noodle Incident: Allen won't help kill Brittney because he has a "Doctor Monster appointment", and refuses to explain what that is.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Allan lets out a pitch-perfect imitation of Brittney's scream when he sees the hole in the roof.
  • Self-Disposing Villain: After the ceremonial dagger turns out to be fake, Brittney ends up just killing herself over Pim and Charlie's completely accurate accusations.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Daniel the Demon Slayer is one to The Nostalgia Critic, to the point that Doug Walker has a Celebrity Cameo in the role.
    • The android that Charlie has to hold for his uncle is the same exact one from the "I Feel Fantastic" video.
    • When discussing what weapons to use against Brittney, Charlie mentions that he has a replica of Aragon's sword, but decides against using it due to not wanting to scratch it.
    • One of the guests at the wedding is modeled after Brown from Purple and Brown.
  • The Stinger: The Boss ends up owning 1/4 of all of Hell after Brittney is killed. After the credits, he's shown arguing with Satan over property in Hell.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Unlike last season's Halloween special, Pim comes out of this one relatively unscathed, with the Boss and Charlie bearing the brunt of the misadventure.
  • Uncanny Valley: Allan is very off-put by the humanoid android who is none other than Tara the Singing Android from the infamous "I Feel Fantastic" video. The android even jumpscares him.
  • The Unintelligible: Jombo.
  • Un-person: After his encounter with Charlie at Mr. Boss's wedding, Jombo erases all records of himself on social media before fleeing to New Jersey, never to be seen again.
  • Take That!:
    • There's a brief jab towards lengthy sponsor segments in YouTube videos, with Daniel The Demon Slayer's sponsor for Dollar Shave Club taking up roughly 8 minutes of the almost 9 minute video. Fortunately, Charlie just fast-forwards through it.
      Allen: Thank you.
    • Given he's played by Doug Walker, it could also be a reference to the fact that his Nostalgia Critic videos tend to have 2 long sponsorship segments followed by ads for conventions he's attending and his twitch channel that tend to take up at least 2-3 minutes. Doubles as Self-Deprecation considering, well, he's played by Doug Walker.
