In 2020, a prelude to the episode was released in order to better connect it to the events of the remade Episode 6: the prelude shows what Liz and her friend Goldie were up to in the immediate aftermath of Episode 6, while also shedding some light into Liz's relationship with Bowser. This episode contains examples of:
- Bullying a Dragon: Exploited by Ganondorf. Ganon taunts Bowser by reminding him of Pichu's death, causing Bowser to enter an Unstoppable Rage and achieve his Ascent Mode. This is exactly what Ganon wants to see, and evilly boasts about how said power will help him in his scheme.
- Come Back, My Pet!: A majority of the episode is focused on Team Sonic's efforts to help Ness capture his "pet" monkey, Diddy Kong. Of course, it was all an elaborate ruse by Ness' team to wear them out.
- Delaying Action: Sonic taunting Team Yoshi buys enough time for Mario and Ike to recover, and rejoin the fray.
- Go Fetch: Link's violent tendencies are highlighted when Ganondorf offers him the chance to attack an Ivysaur.Ganondorf: That's it, good boy. (throws Ivysaur) NOW FETCH!
- Revenge Myopia: Yoshi's entire plan was hinged off of Mario and Ike killing the Yoshis who settled in Ike's castle back in Episode 2.
