Summary: As Ridley's origin is revealed, Mewtwo, Roy and Shadow seek to find a way out of the Twilight Realm.

The episode can be viewed here.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Cameo Cluster: A litany of characters are either seen or alluded to living in the Twilight Realm, some including Assist Trophies. This includes a big group shot that contains all of the aforementioned assist trophies, or are simply background characters in the original game. Among the notable trophies are:
  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode focuses primarily on Mewtwo, Roy and Shadow, while also delving into Ridley's origin, highlighting his relationship to Ganon and Bowser.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Ridley gives this line to Samus after she fails to kill Ridley with the Creator's energy and is unable to speak:
Ridley: At least give me indigestion on the way down, you failure.
  • Foreshadowing: Mewtwo, Shadow, and Roy have a conversation that clarifies the details about how Mewtwo's spirit was able to overtake Lucario's body. Shadow comes to the conclusion with a strong enough will, a lesser trophy can force a greater trophy's will into an indefinite stupor. This method is exactly how Midna is able to force herself out of the Twilight Realm and possess Zelda for her own agenda.
  • Genetic Memory: Ridley is revealed to share Bowser's memories, as a result of being wired with the Koopa's DNA.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Samus fires off a charge shot of the Creator's energy at Ridley only to have it redirected, and Samus acts quickly to knock Wolf and Snake out of harms way and takes the shot herself. The shot completely immobilizes her, shaving off 3 life stocks from herself in the process. Ridley then proceeds to eat her whole, presumably killing her.
  • Lean and Mean: Waluigi, one of the guards of Midna's Castle, who regularly snarks and threatens to physically punish Bowser Jr. with his tennis racket.
  • Legion of Doom: Midna has several trophies poised to aid her in her ambitions, all of whom are villains. This group includes King K. Rool, Black Shadow, Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic and The Black Knight.
  • Mood Whiplash: After Samus's Heroic Sacrifice and subsequent death, the scene shifts to Zero Ridley napping in a park, awoken by two Pokemon in a rush to see the Smash King finals.
  • My Instincts Are Showing: Ganon berates Ridley for allowing his primal hatred towards Samus to show through, a sign of him embracing his predestined fate. When Ridley has Samus at his mercy, he claims his "baser instincts" are what make him disappointed in her failure.
  • No-Sell: Ridley not only shrugs off Samus's Charge Shot, he throws it right back at her.
  • Palette Swap: In-universe, the trophies condemned to the Twilight Realm are nothing more than differently colored versions of existing trophies (ex. Roy being a recolored Ike, Midna being a recolored Zelda). With enough effort, they can recreate their natural forms, though this is far easier for Assist Trophies like Shadow.
  • Self-Duplication: While not exactly a complete normal copy, Ridley is able to create mini versions of himself. Notably, the "birth" of Zero Ridley happens here.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Sheik's eyes turn a golden hue after Midna possesses her.
  • Wham Episode: The episode starts off right off the bat going in the action, with us seeing Ganon's crew bring Ridley to their base and awaken him, bear witness to many implications that Ridley may be connected to Bowser, see the original attempted mission of Samus and co. trying to stop Ridley from awakening, and it's all capped off with Samus dying at the hands of Ridley in the end, thinking of Wario in her last moments. Talk about a brutal opening to what seems to be a very dark act.
    • The Episode ends with Midna using her magic to escape the Twilight Realm, possessing Zelda in the process, complete with Zelda's eyes taking on Midna's own.
