This episode contains examples of:
- 10-Minute Retirement: Sonic, for a brief moment. After meeting the reincarnated Captain Falcon, he vows to be more dependable and less self-absorbed.
- Came Back Strong: Captain Falcon, who also became surprisingly competent after losing all of his ten-life stock.
- Darkest Hour: For Mario. With Peach having left him and Bowser seemingly winning her over, he curses the Koopa for ruining his life.
- Team Falcon as well. Between their abysmal ranking in the tournament and the death of their leader, they see no other option but to drop out. Thankfully, they meet the reincarnated Captain Falcon and get back in the tourney soon after. While they acknowledge it's impossible for them to climb out of last place, Falcon and his teammates vow to at least go out with style.
- Death Is Not Permanent: After pulling a Heroic Sacrifice earlier, Captain Falcon is found alive and well, albeit reborn as a different incarnation.
- He's Back!: Once Sonic gets out of his funk after meeting Captain Falcon, he vows to be a better team leader.
- Man Behind the Man: All of Zelda's prophetic visions and words of wisdom? Nothing more than what Midna relays to her.
- The Matchmaker: Midna vows to be this for Bowser and Peach...and judging by the Mood Whiplash of the scene, it can't be for a good reason.
- Mental Fusion: Zelda and Midna meet in a world that can only be accessed via their minds, as both characters are on completely separate realms of existence. Midna was close to possibly taking control of Zelda until the latter forced their link to be severed.
