Lois follows Lex to Detroit, where he has found and befriended an amnesiac Kara, but she and Kara end up being held captive by an obsessed busboy while Lex is shot in the head. Clark uses an old LuthorCorp project to enter Lex's mind in order to find out Lois and Kara's location.

- Abusive Dad: One of Lex's memories shows Lionel being verbally and physically abusive towards a young Lex.
- Blood from the Mouth: Evil!Lex after Clark punches him a few times.
- Boom, Headshot!: In the teaser, Finley shoots Lex in the head. Fortunately, Lex recovers, thanks to Chloe's healing power.
- Domestic Abuser: In one of Lex's childhood memories, Lionel angrily grabs Lillian and shoves her to the floor after she presses him for answers about Veritas.
- Fan Disservice: There's a sex scene between Lana and Lex, but it is created to hurt Clark emotionally.
- Forced to Watch: At one point, Evil!Lex forces Clark to watch an intimate moment between Lex and Lana in which Lana tells Lex she'll love him forever.
