Tropes present in the episode:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Kolitar chuckles at Rembrandt's crack about his face.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Colin demonstrates he is quite handy with a gun and isn't afraid to use it.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Colin saves Quinn and Rembrandt from hanging by shooting the ropes.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Averted. Kolitar recognizes Colin.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Lampshaded.
Kolitar: You expect me to believe that in an infinite number of worlds, you just happen to end up on the same one I did?
  • Cowboy Episode: Complete with Western-like credits.
  • Dark Is Evil: Kolitar is a Kromagg that dresses largely in black.
Kolitar: My name inspires terror from here to St. Louis.
Rembrandt: You sure it's not your face?
    Kolitar: It helps.
  • Different World, Different Movies: Kolitar refers to the classic Kromagg film The Man Who Shot Kaleeth-Tar.
  • Dirty Cop: Sheriff Redfield is secretly working with Kolitar.
  • Famous Ancestor: Ben Siegel is the grandson of Bugsy Siegel.
  • Fanservice: Maggie dressed up as a saloon showgirl.
  • Frame-Up: Kolitar kills a man, but he uses a mental trick to make the witnesses think it was Quinn who did it.
  • Genre Savvy: Quinn and Rembrandt attempt to a jailbreak by the former hanging onto the ceiling and the latter claiming he's escaped. It doesn't work on Kolitar, though, who says a Kromagg western he saw once featured the same kind of trick.
  • Going Native: Kolitar, to the point where he's speaking like a cowboy.
  • Got Me Doing It: Quinn and Rembrandt pick up Western slang pretty quick.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Ben Siegel helps Maggie near the end.
  • I Choose to Stay: Kolivar thinks the Western world is a Kromagg's dream come true
  • It Has Been an Honor: Rembrandt says there's no one else but Quinn that he'd rather hang with.
  • Left the Background Music On: While in jail, Quinn and Rembrandt discuss their situation, and their discussion is set to harmonica music. After a while, Rembrandt pokes his head through the window and tells the man sitting outside and playing the harmonica to cut it off.
  • Properly Paranoid: Kolitar bumps into Maggie while she's wearing her saloon girl outfit. He finds her familiar but doesn't dwell on it until later confronted by Colin.
  • Richard Nixon, the Used Car Salesman: Ellie Starr mentions that her father fought with Norman Schwarzkopf at Gettysburg.
  • Running Gag: Those not native to this world keep falling into western phrases and terminology. Every time that happens, the given character says, "It's catching."
  • Suddenly Shouting: "SLIDERS!"
  • Ultimate Authority Mayor: Sheriff Redtield is also an undertaker and a horse merchant.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Kolitar escapes on a horse.
  • Villain of the Week: Mr. K, AKA Kolitar from "Slidecage."
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Kolitar thinks the Sliders deliberately followed him instead of landing on this world by chance.
  • "You!" Exclamation: Kolitar when confronted by Colin.
