Adora and her friends undertake a relief mission to the besieged kingdom of Plumeria. Shadow Weaver still wants Catra to bring Adora back.

Tropes

  • Always a Bigger Fish: Hordak contacts Shadow Weaver to remind her that he’s the one with true power in the Horde and to drop her personal crusade to find Adora. He also tells her that her power comes from him and, on his slightest whim, he can take that power away from her.
  • Bavarian Fire Drill: Adora attempts to bluff her way through when a trooper catches them in an area that requires clearance. It doesn't work because Adora didn't realize the Horde changed their codes.
  • Blood Knight: Despite spending most of the episode acting like a garden-variety note  Granola Girl, during the Plumerians' assault on the Horde camp, Perfuma rides a length of vines into battle and cackles with glee as Horde soldiers run from her.
  • Conspicuously Light Patch: The barrel that a Horde soldier fires at is brighter in color than the other barrels.
  • Cuddle Bug: A Running Gag has the Plumerians crowd around She-Ra in a warm embrace, with one toddler (as seen in the picture) either clinging to her or winding up in her arms.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: Adora, Glimmer, and Bow swipe some Horde armor and sneak in during a shift change. Their cover is blown when Adora uses a confirmation code several months out of date.
  • Empty Chair Memorial: Adora accidentally sits in King Micah's old chair, making the princesses panic and displeasing Angella.
  • Holding Out for a Hero: Glimmer accuses the people of Plumeria of being unwilling to stand up to the Horde and wanting to leave everything up to She-Ra.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Adora tries to unlock She-Ra's healing capabilities, but the best she manages is giving a lizard wings and a horn. She does, however, purify the poison by stabbing the machine tainting the land.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Bow didn't know She-Ra was the one to transform Horsie into Swift Wind before seeing her accidentally do the same to a lizard.
    • Shadow Weaver discovers Adora's Secret Identity as She-Ra.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Apparently, even Adora didn't know the Horde changed their codes months ago, and that was long before she defected.
  • Loophole Abuse: Since Hordak has forbidden her to send out any more soldiers to hunt down Adora, Shadow Weaver instead tells Catra that her standing orders are to bring her back and sends her own shadow spies to search for her.
  • Mythology Gag: The title is a reference to the episode "Flowers for Hordak" from the original series. Like this episode, it was focused on Perfuma.
  • New-Age Retro Hippie: The Plumerians all have this air about them; pacifistic, air-headed, Technical Pacifist flower children who refuse to do anything about their dying Runestone or the nearby Horde encampment under the assumption that it would "sort itself out." By the end of the episode, She-Ra had taught them how to fight for themselves, Perfuma discovering that she has a taste for battle and joins the Rebellion.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Angella is already wary of Adora for being a former member of the Horde and bluntly tells her that it's only Glimmer's say-so that she is giving her a chance. Unfortunately, Adora doesn't do much to endear herself to the queen when she (unintentionally) sits in her late husband's chair.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Everyone in the room has this reaction when Adora accidentally sits in the dead king's chair in the council room.
    • Shadow Weaver has this reaction when Hordak contacts her and demands to know why she’s wasting manpower to hunt down Adora.
  • Prefers Rocks to Pillows: Adora grew up in Spartan barracks surrounded by her squadmates. Her enormous room and soft bed is too luxurious and alone, and she has trouble sleeping (and she broke the mattress).
  • Right Behind Me: When Catra reveals that she's the new Force Captain to her teammates:
Catra: Hordak knows a good thing when he sees it. [Shadow Weaver appears right behind her, and her teammates flinch] Now that I'm in charge, Shadow Weaver won't be the only—one... [turns around and sees Shadow Weaver]
  • Sinister Surveillance: Shadow Weaver creates several shadow spies in order to track down Adora and watch her wherever she goes.
  • Skyward Scream: Shadow Weaver lets loose a rage-induced scream after being verbally chewed out by Hordak.
  • Tears of Joy: Perfuma cries these when She-Ra starts talking.
  • World-Healing Wave: When She-Ra destroys the Horde's machine, Plumeria and the Heart Blossom recover, forcing the Horde to retreat.

Micah's chair

Not long after learning that Glimmer's father, King Micah, was one of the Horde's first casualties, Adora sits in his chair by accident.

How well does it match the trope?
