JD has appendicitis, Eliot needs to be warmer as a doctor, and Cox is trying to treat his mentor, the former Chief of Medicine.
- Artistic License – Medicine: No one at Sacred Heart would be allowed to treat JD, and especially Turk wouldn't be allowed to operate on him.
- Turk cuts JD open on the upper left side of his abdomen for his appendicitis. The abdomen is on the lower right. The incision is later shown to be in the correct location.
- Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Cox walks into the bar and orders five shots (on Thanksgiving), looking like he's about to start another binge. When the other four notice him, he tells them to shut up and hands them the other four shots.
- Failure Montage: Eliot tries to be a kinder doctor with her patients...
- Hidden Depths: Kelso saves Cox's mentor's life, and the man actually likes him.
- Romantic Wingman: When JD shows up at the bar in the open, he sees Turk dancing with NOT Carla and tries to remind him of this. Turns out, Turk has been prepping her for JD all night.Hot Blonde: Is it true you spend all day saving children's lives?
